In short, this hotel is excellent, in location, amenities, room, food, and especially the service. We booked as a family and was presented with a suite including bunk beds for kids in the adjoining annex. The lower bed was just too big for our daughter so cot was brought and turned down within minutes. There was also some little gifts left for the kids which were a nice touch and they loved. Thanks to Rianne, brilliant as ever.
The separate TV in the kid's annex stopped a lot of in-room fighting over the remote too. An item of clothing was left behind but after a quick phone call it was located and sent first class back to us. Thanks must go to Alex for this.
Put simply, we are regular visitors to The Lakes and this is the only place to stop on Windermere.

Room Tip: Inner courtyard suites are best for taking kids.

We have some of the best family accommodation in the Lake District. Family rooms for adults and up to 3 children enjoy either an internal second bedroom, when children sleep or have double sized rooms. Interconnecting rooms allow plenty of space to lose yourself…..and others

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was sadly for a family cremation but enjoyed a high level of service very comfy rooms and excellent food especially in the main restaurant. I had a room overlooking the Lake Windermere and it was beautiful. The brasserie is great fun and we had a big family meal in there one night it sets a slightly more casual scene but with same high standard of cuisine as well as some Cumbrian dishes. The waitering staff are brilliant extremely well trained and nothing is too much trouble.
Really enjoyed the health Spa and swimming pool which was pleasantly quiet for an early morning swim. Nice little touches like a wet costume spinner in the changing room so your costume is dry and ready to wear the next day.

Room Tip: Lakeview rooms are highly sort after but worth asking for but if unavailable the woodland and courtyard as just as comfy.

Stopped for coffee. It was served in the Conservatory overlooking the water. It was really beautiful. The coffee was served with home made shortbread which was delicious. It would be a lovely place for a short getaway.

After a visit of many where we encountered a few problems this visit was back to what we expect, a relaxing stay in a fantastic location with excellent service.
Our room, an 'Ultimate Lakeview' give just that. It was spacious, well decorated and equipped giving a very relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent with one very small niggle, that being, one of the waitresses explaining the breakfast to guests was quite loud advising the procedure. We could hear from the other end of the restaurant.
We really enjoyed our stay and are sure that any previous problems we experienced have been addressed.

The pricing structure for this hotel is baffling to say the least. We were looking to go away for a few days and saw that they had a '4 for 3' deal on rooms ie you pay for 3 nights and get the 4th night free - sounded great! Nope.

First off, we tried booking through TripAdvisor, which gave us a price of £705 for 3 nights, but then gave us a price of £870 for 4 nights, specifically stating it was the '4 for 3' deal. I'm not sure of the exact wording in the dictionary under 'free' but I'm pretty sure it doesn't say '£165'.

We figured it may be a bug so we visited the hotel's website. Clicking to book a room on their website showed that 3 nights would cost £655. A message tells you to change your stay to 4 nights to receive the free night. When you change your stay to 4 nights the price changes to £810. Again, apparently 'free' is actually £155.

So we shot a quick e-mail to the hotel. They replied back promptly and told us that the '4 for 3' deal is based on the 'full price' cost of the rooms, and that the price for 1-3 nights was their 'short break' rate. The hotel also has a 'long break' rate for 5+ nights that works out the same price per night as the '4 for 3' deal.

In essence, the hotel has discounted rates for 1-3 nights, discounted rates for 5+ nights, and it seems they only charge the full rate for 4 nights, which just happens to be when you get a 'free' night. Although obviously it's not actually free if your rates are increased for literally only that booking length.

We didn't actually book in the end because the staff who replied were condescending, and quite frankly we didn't want to book a room with a hotel that attempts to scam people into thinking they're getting a free night, which they're quite obviously not, and then talks to you like you're an idiot for thinking that the free night would actually be free.

It makes me wonder what other extra charges they would attempt to add to our bill if they're operating this sort of pricing scam with their room rates.
