Stopped off here for a hot cuppa. We sat outside down by the river and enjoyed the lovely sunshine. Service was great even though it was busy with lots of walkers and boat folk. The staff were very friendly.

What I like most about the Swan, apart from its location next to the river, is the fact that the hotel manages to combine the age and character of the building, with a modern interior. My family and I had stopped at the Swan many times for a drink on the patio next to the river, but had never stayed. We stayed for the first time on a Sunday in one of the family rooms. The room was tasteful.comfortable and furnished to a high standard. My son (6) particularily liked the fact that he had a televison facing his bed in the alcove of our room. Due to the fact that we had the children with us, we decided to eat in the large bar area. If I am honest, I didnt find the food particularily inspiring for the price We had a ploughmans and a fish plate, which came with one piece of bread on each plate !. ( we had to ask for more ).The food was okay, but for the prices I expected a bit more. On a positive note, the real ales are very well kept and keenly priced for a decent hotel. To sum up - I would stay at the Swan again without hestation, however I wouldnt eat there, as I know a pub nearby that serves much better food at similar prices.

What more can we say...we have stayed at the Swan before and our latest stay was just as good in every respect. An excellent 4 star hotel without any stuffiness. Lovely relaxed and homely atmosphere.

Bit confused by some of the comments on here regarding price. Prices represent excellent value...quality isn't free.

Just had one night at the Swan and wish we had been able to stay longer. It is in a lovely setting, just off the bridge. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlesss with goof quality toiletories. Choice of dining - either 'bar food' or river room retaurant - we ued the restaurant and the food and service were excellent. Lots of sitting/lounge aeas and great bar. Would like to re-visit to use the spa and pool facilities,

Room Tip: First floor, garden view was quiet and very comfortable.

Had a very pleasing stay at the Swan.
Stayed in a deluxe room on the 2nd floor overlooking the river which was lovely. Room very clean and bathroom spotless.
Ate twice in the river room restaurant which we could not fault. Service was a little slow but polite. Couldn't help but feel that employing a 'head waiter' would really enhance this. There are some lovely rooms to enjoy a pre or post meal drink in front of a roaring fire.
Breakfast was excellent.
The hotel is in a lovely spot at the bottom of Lake Windemere and is an ideal break especially for young families

Room Tip: Deluxe Room on a higher floor was quiet and had a lovely river view
