This is an excellent, comfortable and really well run hotel. Its new spa adds the final touch to its complete range of up to date facilities. The staff are first rate, they are always friendly, efficient and ready to go the extra mile for their customers. My wife was not well at the start of our holiday and they could not have been more helpful. Rooms splendid. Choice of 3 eating places, food superb in all. Setting right by the river is magical. A hotel for all ages, and all seasons.

Well, I will keep this short as the other reviews here have covered everything I have to say!!
We had a delightful mini-honeymoon here after getting married in the lakes three weeks ago. The staff at this hotel know a thing or two about customer service! We were really looked after, had a beautiful, clean, comfortable room, gorgeous weather, great food and plenty of time to relax in the lovely setting.

if you are looking for a lake district minibreak or good old british holday please think of this hotel, it is close enough to lakeside and bowness, but still a lovely retreat away from all the bustle and crowds in high season. Book a break here (take advantage of the mid week or sunday offeres!) you will not be dissapointed. Enjoy this lovely gem of a hotel!

I wasn't going to bother to repeat what others had already said but a place this good deserves all the credit. As a pub and restaurant owner myself I really apreciate the value of a good team and the swan has one of the best. One of the friendliest hotels that I have ever stayed in.
Fantastic location, great choice of dining options, lovely pool area. Even the bar prices were reasonable.
Will definately stay again
plus check out the adventure play ground

Practically everything very good about the place.
Pity that the main restaurant was not open though - had to use the other restaurant.
Pool pleasant and warm.

I stayed at this hotel over a weekend in late May 2008. The total cost was £198 for a double room inc. breakfast.
Arrival was a quick affair and we were soon in our standard double room. What was really nice was the huge flat TV in the corner along with an elegantly decorated room. Minibar prices were also quite realistic for any hotel.
We ate out both nights but came back mid-evening for a few drinks. On the Saturday night the Police had to be called because of some noisy tanked-up scousers but the hotel dealt with this well and they were soon evicted. All was back to civility soon enough.
Breakfast was a very fine affair - you order what you want and it is cooked fresh. I had salmon one morning and pancakes the next - both were amongst the best I have ever had.
All in all, this is probably the best hotel I've stayed in at the Lake District. I'm happy to recommend.

Our stay at the Swan Hotel in May this year was absolutely fabulous. The only thing missing was the weather!
The staff were all outstanding. So helpful and friendly nothing was a bother. They were also very helpful with our little one.

  • Liked — The Roland Restaurant
  • Disliked — The suite we were in was fine but could do with a bit of modernising

Was very impressed with this hotel. Only booked a day or two before arrival date and requested a king size bed (other comments had been that beds were a little too small) and room with a river view, I was hoping that I might get at least one of the two requests so I was delighted when I got both. The staff here are excellent - nothing is too much trouble and as someone who is a professional meeting planner - staying in hotels all around the world (including many 5 stars for 15 years) I was very happy with the Swan. The food was great, with a choice of three restaurants to choose from. Fabulous location also. The best thing for me were the staff though - they totally made my stay and should make the owner / manager very proud - make sure you keep them. If there is one down side it is the stained velvet chairs in the restaurant /breakfast room - other than that I cannot find fault. I would recommend this to others - if I didn't want to keep it secret to myself:)

  • Disliked — stained seats in one of the restaurants
