We booked a night away with a special offer by calling the hotel directly. We were given a Deluxe room with a River view which was modern, spotlessly clean and gorgeously furnished. It was really warm at night so we had to open the windows but I think this is standard for most hotels! We used the Spa facilities before our Dinner reservation in the River Room. Food and wine were excellent and we were well looked after. After dinner we had drinks in one of the lounge areas by a lovely fire. This is a very family orientated Hotel and there were lots of families staying as well as couples. This didn't bother us really but i think it is worth mentioning in case you are looking for a completely romantic getaway. The Spa has a 10m pool, Sauna, Steam room and Jacuzzi which was lovely for what we needed. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and generous portions. We would have loved to explore the surrounding areas if we had more time.

Room Tip: We were in 313 which was Deluxe room River facing on the 2nd floor.

Didn't stay but was passing and it looked a nice place for lunch. Had a nice meal - good food and extremely prompt service in a nice setting. Well kitted out for families with small children. Tempted to come back some time and stay in the hotel.

I stayed four nights (business) in early January and found the hotel and staff first class. The room was good quality, and the bar and restaurant areas were comfortable.

The only disappointment was the unavailability of lighter snacks (eg. Club sandwich) after 5pm. I found the main courses to be average at best (cheeseburger, macaroni and scampy on three of the nights - I ate out on the fourth simply for a change of scene) but the breakfast was as good as I have had - both the scrambled eggs and salmon and poached egg and sauce are to die for!

I had the fish pie in the bar. It was only salmon (no other fish) and fish skin pie, with mash, a few chopped dried up leeks on the top, lots of powdery breadcrumbs, no other veg and two dried out pieces of bread and a tiny bit of butter. Pretty awful.
I sent a nice constructive email to give feedback and got a very poor response.
Over priced and disappointing quality and customer care.

My wife and I + baby stayed here for a night 27th Dec.
In summary : Service very good : Warm, welcoming, helpful and polite.
We had some lunch in the Bar area which was very nice. Better than pub food. Again service very good.
We used the spa facilities which included a small pool with Steam room and Sauna + family changing facilities : Facilities were good and spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was also good : served in a great dining area.
The room was a good size, the bathroom was modern and well appointed.

They offer a great "baby listening" service if you fancy a drink at night. You call reception and leave the phone off the hook. Let reception know where you will be in the bar and if the baby stirs, they will come and get you. Brilliant! (We used this service for 1/2 hour - and appreciated it!)

2 niggles :
1. They wanted to charge 15Pounds per night for a travel cot which seemed a little unreasonable.
2. The bed was horrendously uncomfortable. The mattress was very soft in the way that a mattress goes when it needs replacing. So we did not have a good night sleep.

Would I stay again ? Yes, definitely.
But not at the full price - only if there was an offer.

We had afternoon meal here, food was low quality, Luke warm, our table was not cleared of previous occupants when food arrived, when food arrived order was not as requested and was not hot and frankly was disappointing. The service was poor in general, for the quality of food you are paying for the location and the appearance. I would seek out an alternative to this pub. Not good at all.
