“Excellent hotel, spoiled by the guests.”
Reviewed 27 May 2014

This hotel has been getting excellent reviews recently and so it should. It superb. From start to finish me and my wife felt as though we were in total luxury. I felt the need to come on here and defend the hotel as many of the other guests seemed to be rude, obnoxious and down right picky towards the staff. While we were there we saw snotty children shouting at staff, adults demanding to see the manager over ridiculous things (i.e the pork was too salty. Duh. dont order pork then), and even being rude to staff waitresses because she had the audacity to read out a long list od specials at dinner. The mind boggles. I swear some people come on holiday to hate every minute of it and I have never witnessed a bunch of entitled, rude and downright childish adults than I have when I stayed at this hotel. Unfortunately they are bringing their children up the same way judging by the way some of them behaved within the hotel.
Make no mistake about it, this is a top class hotel with pleasant and well groomed staff. Our stay was amazing from start to finish and we wish to thank the staff at the swan for making it so special. Some of the guests who stayed there should be ashamed of themselves.

We took the opportunity to take friends from Australia here to have lunch. The menu was spectacular and the main courses delicious. The wine went well with the meal and the service was very attentive. The deserts were to die for and the coffee rounded it off.

Room Tip: The A la Carte restaurant was the pick !!

A very efficiently run hotel with good facilities and helpful staff. The hotel is in a lovely riverside location away from a busy road but still easily accessible. The food is good and served in an attractive converted barn. We did not use the spa, but it looked well equipped. Highly recommended whatever the reason for your visit.

Room Tip: Riverside rooms have the best view but are possibly noisier.

On the 20th of May 2014 we arrived at the Hotel and was greeted with a pleasant attentive receptionist who gave my wife and I all the information for our stay. We stayed in a junior suite which was a fabulous size with exceptional fittings and decor . We dined in the restaurant that evening and the food was good and again the staff were attentive and pleasant . The Hotel is set in a very picturesque location with seating areas to dine outside weather permitting by the river. We shall be using this hotel again hopefully in the very near future. Keith &. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant in the swan hotel, the food was excellent and the staff were very polite ,also great easy going atmosphere with top class food. Definately go again as it made our evening, the only gripe was the price of the drinks at the bar but we were on holiday and it was a lovely relaxed ,vibrant atmosphere .

We only are here, we didn't stay, but we would like to come back and stay at the hotel, the restaurant was busy to be expected on a Saturday evening, but the service and food was excellent although it was busy, definitely recommend

My husband booked the Swan for our wedding anniversary. Our bedroom was very disappointing - lots of cheap furniture and incredibly naff cheap wall paper. Bathroom needed a refurb. In fact the whole room could have done with that. It was also cold.

The common areas of the hotel are better - funky decor and I especially liked the breakfast area. Breakfast was also excellent if not a little slow.

The food was quite good but not spectacular - it was expensive

After all my moaning it wasn't terrible just a bit average. We enjoyed the swimming pool, although the pool was a little too chilly for me. I had a massage which I think was 10 minutes too short and again average. We did though have a lovely weekend and the Lake District was as fabulous as ever. Just not sure I'd go back to the Swan.
