Just got back from a 10 night stay at Sykeside, what a fantastic place! We had not stayed in this part of the Lake District before and chose the site as there were plenty walks nearby. We were not disappointed. The site is sat at the bottom of a valley in a bowl of hills so you can just get up and go straight from your tent in the morning and the views are amazing.
The staff were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the local area. Fresh sandwiches were available in the shop every morning so we didn’t have to bother making up packed lunches first thing. We ate several time at the Inn, the lamb henry was fab and just what we needed to recharge after a long days walk. We found the beer pretty cheap too at £3.20 a pint, other pubs nearby charged well over £4.00.
We were so impressed by the location and facilities we have already booked a return trip.More
