Warm welcome and place to put our wet things. Bev Kindly dried our clothes which were ready when we returned from our dinner. Small twin room but adequate with shared bathroom and good shower. We only had light breakfast so can't comment on cooked breakfast. Helpful and interesting advice on where to walk and the sheep farm they run.

My wife and I stayed here with two other couples as part of our Coast To Coast walk.
It was one of the best “value for money” places we stayed on the whole walk. At only £25 per person B&B (plus an additional £13.50 if you want a full dinner) it really was top value.
Greenbank Farm is a bit out of town and probably a mile or so off the recognised Coast to Coast track. This is not really a problem if you’ve walked from Grasmere because that is only a short day. It’s not even that far if you go via Helvellyn and Striding Edge.
As for the next day – there’s no need to walk back into town to rejoin the track. There is a path that heads up the next fell and joins the track up further.
When we arrived, my wife and I sat out on a garden bench with a cup of tea (and the six dogs) and admired the scenery.
Dinner was plentiful and delicious as was breakfast and our lunch packs for the following day.
Our room was snug but very adequate and clean.
The one down side was that there are several rooms for rent upstairs but only the one bathroom which also houses the only toilet. This wasn’t too big an issue for us as we made up the majority of people staying and developed a system that worked for us. If the rooms were all booked by individual groups (and not all walkers) I could see this being an issue.
Would I stay here again? Certainly.
***Tip: They only take cash - no cards.

We were made to feel exceptionally welcome at Greenbank Farm. This is a working farm, with farm animals and (in our case) puppies to admire!
A very peaceful and quiet location, with superb mountain views in every direction, and where time seems to stand still. We stopped here whilst on the Coast to Coast walk, and felt very relaxed and refreshed after a warm welcome, a great evening meal and a deep sleep. Highly recommended!!

Our group of 10 stayed here on our Coast to Coast walk in May 2014. A very lovely and relaxing place to stay. It is a little drive from the town on Patterdale (guess about 2 km) but we had a vehicle, so not a worry. We feed the baby lambs and were able to walk around the farm at our will. Two of our party stayed in a static caravan which was very comfortable, clean and quaint!!

Room Tip: A must to stay in Patterdale.

I stayed one night here on the Coast to Coast walk. I had the place to myself.

The scenery is absolutely lovely. The stay was very adequate. Breakfast was very good in the morning.

A bit of a hike from Patterdale town, but not bad. Bev was a great host. Plus very cute dogs!

I cannot speak highly enough of Beverly and her B&B at Greenbank Farm. We arrived after the most torrential storm, every item of clothing, backpack and contents were drenched. Beverly just told us to place everything in a basket and she would guarantee they would be bone dry by morning, including soaked boots. Just what you want to hear!

Our room was bright and airy and spotlessly clean. We dined in that evening and Beverley went to great lengths to provide us with a wonderful meal. She also catered for my partner’s dietary requirements without a problem.

This would have to be one of the best B&Bs we stayed in along the C2C and one I can recommend without reserve.

Greenbank Farm was a delightful place to stay on the Coast to Coast walk in mid September 2013. Bev and her husband Peter were very kind hosts. When we arrived after a very wet trek from Grasmere, she collected up all our wet clothes and boots and ensured that our coats were dry for our walk back into the village of Patterdale for dinner. By morning, all our things were dry. We stayed in the caravan with our two sons. It was clean and comfortable and more spacious than many of the family rooms we stayed in during our Coast to Coast walk. The caravan had a toilet and it was a very short walk to an excellent shower. We were particularly lucky that our visit coincided with a new litter of puppies! Greenbank Farm is only a very short, flat walk into Patterdale for an evening meal and the chance to be on a working sheep farm was a great experience for us.
