stayed here for one night as a little treat. hazel and eddy were very welcoming and made us tea and cake on arrival which was well appreciated after our long walk. the bedroom was clean and tidy and everything we needed, clean towels shampoo, shower gel etc. This is only one bedroom b&b and is a 10 minute walk away for the village. it is so peaceful and quiet. the breakfast next morning is all you could ask for, the breakfast was plentiful and piping hot. Thanks hazel and Eddy for a lovely stay.

We found this delightful B&B on our coast to coast walk in 2013... This return visit didn't disappoint. I even took advantage of Hazel's massage therapy which was a heavenly experience and I would highly recommend this. What a a gem of a place this is

We arrived at this farmhouse tired and wet after an eye opening hike over a mountain pass. Hazel greeted us with open arms and took our rain gear from us, showed us to our cozy, private room, and offered to cook us supper. She will be a friend for life. This supper is not a service normally offered, but she understood we were in no mood for going out, even tho we were planning to do so. We ate in the parlour in this 300+ year old cottage while listening to excellent recordings supplied by husband Eddie. Overall outstanding experience.

Room tip: Only one room available

If you are looking for character and comfort this is the place for you. The cottage if from the 1600's and they only have one room for guests but it was a welcoming stop on our Coast to Coast trek. You do have to walk 10 minutes to the pub for dinner but in the morning you are less than five minutes to the start of your journey to Shap. The owners were very helpful in planning routes and maps and tea/cake was appreciated when we arrived. Breakfast was great too. Would definitely return for another visit.

Room tip: Great shower!

We stayed two nights here as part of a 10 days walking trip around the Lakes District. This B&B is about a kilometer from the hotels in Patterdale which results in a perfect quiet and restful location. The B&B caters for just one couple which gives you not just your bedroom & ensuite, but also your own lounge/dining room. There is a huge selection of DVD/CDS which may be played in your room. Plus satellite TV if you have time to watch! The B&B is less than a 15 minutes walk from the town hotels. Easy access to walks around the lake or over the adjacent hills. The hosts, Hazel & Eddie are very friendly people and are most welcoming & pleasant. Breakfast is plentiful with the eggs coming from the chooks in the backyard. A further bonus is that breakfast is available from 7.30am which is handy if you have a full day of walking planned. WiFi availability is very good.
