I stayed here at the start of August for a wedding reception. The location is remote but sometimes that's just what you need! The staff were great, the rooms were decked out to the highest standard with gorgeous touches and furnishings. The food was second to none and the breakfast in the morning alone would be worth staying for!!! Will return and rate to anyone!!

Spent my 7th wedding anniversary in this wonderful hotel and had a wonderful stay. On booking in we wanted to eat in the bar area as we had spent a previous anniversary at this table. The bar was full at the so we booked a table in the restaurant. We played cards in the bar whilst enjoying our pre dinner drinks and just before we were due to sit down the excellent waitress advised us that "our" table was available. Brilliant service. We enjoyed a wonderful meal of spicy chicken, kidneys and onion bread, lamb shank and a beautiful leg of duck. 2 bottles of wine later we decamped to our luxurious room ( 18 ) in the very peaceful and quite annexe attached to the hotel. The bedroom was very spacious, beautifully decorated and well appointed. The star of the show however was the huge and incredibly comfortable bed. It is by far the most comfortable bed I have slept in. There were some lovely added extras, a good selection of hot drinks and beautiful home made shortbread. We look forward to our next stay with relish.

We'd just been pony trekking and felt we deserved some liquid refreshment and had spotted the Queens Head.
Stepping through the door the character shines through, staff are welcoming and the beer delicious.
Having spotted the food being served we decided to sample it ourselves, wide and varied menu, simply spoilt for choice! I asked for a recommendation and quickly received one which was absolutely top notch.
My 6 year old daughter declared the mash to be better than mine...wasn't happy ;-).
Eyes bigger than our bellies we went for dessert, we weren't let down.
This pub/hotel caters for the walkers/locals and I would imagine return business, I can safely say it's the best food we've tasted in quite a while and will be Definately returning if not this trip but the next.
If there is a better restaurant in the area I'd like to know as this place ticked all the boxes, location is remote but it's worth it.
