“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 2 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Very homely log cabin next to the river on a quiet and convenient park. Dog field was large with a lot of space for the hound to stretch his legs.

Absolutely excellent communication with the owners who went the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

We look forward to visiting again in the future.

Reviewed 11 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Peaceful, away from it all location and exactly what we needed at this time of year. Warm and cosy. I recommend visiting 'The Mortal Man' for great food and drink - only a five minute walk away. Pleasant surroundings and lovely views. Ideally situated for Windermere and surroundings.

“Lovely setting in the heart of the Lake District right on the river Troutbeck”
Reviewed 29 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Visited in August with husband, our daughter and boyfriend and two dogs. Plenty of room for all of us.

This lodge is right on the rivers edge in the lovely Limefitt Park. The property was clean and well presented and had patio doors opening onto enclosed decking where we sat and had a great BBQ with the lovely Troutbeck River running by. The lodge is just a 10 minute drive from Bowness where there are a variety of quaint shops and restaurants, the beautiful Lake Windermere where you can hire boats or go on the Steamer. Its just a 20 minute drive to Ambleside and about 30 minutes to Derwent Water which is an amazing Lake. We also stopped in Keswick which was great. Grizedale Forest was well worth the visit we did a moderate red walk to the highest point which took about 2.5 hours.

From behind the Hay Barn in Limefitt Park you can walk up the fells which has an amazing view across Windermere and you can go up to the Quarry too. One of Wainwrights walks is easily accessible.

We ate at the Hay Barn twice, great food, very very dog friendly. Long wait for food but that was no problem to us. There is a dog walking field on the site where dogs can run off the lead.

We would definitely stay in the Riverside Lodge again as it was very good value for money and booking and correspondence from the owners was quick and easy.

If we were really really picky we would have liked a larger more modern bathroom, but this did not affect our stay.

“A+++++ Home From Home”
Reviewed 5 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Lodge was second to none and so clean. It had everything you could want (except the weather but that's the UK for you!).
Such a relaxing break and plenty to do in lodge -- books, lots of games, DVD's, walk planners

Both the children and I had a lovely stay in the Log Cabin, it was very well looked after and very clean, very relaxing and very chilled, even with 3 children and 2 dogs, had a fantastic stay, and there is so much more to do and see. Would love to come back, The staff at shop, and reception are also very helpful and friendly. Loved it all.

“A fabulous family weekend!”
Reviewed 31 December 2014 for a stay in December 2014

Our 2nd trip to Limefitt, and our 2nd stay in Kathy & Roberts beautiful lodge. We stayed last year in the equally beautiful Puddleduck Lodge.

Riverside lodge is simply beautiful, well equipped with everything you could possibly need, spacious, warm & inviting. Equipped with Tv/DVD, books, games console. We absolutely love it here, the park is lovely, the staff are helpful & friendly. Definitely visit the on-site Pub, 'The Haybarn' the food is delicious, and well behaved dogs on leads are welcome too even at meal times.

We travelled into Ambleside before coming home, such a beautiful place just 10min drive from the lodge.

The park itself offers onsite shop, pay phone, kids playground, an enclosed dog field, laundry room, arcade (up at the pub) you have no reason to leave!

Buster & Audrey (our Yorkshire Terriers) absolutely loved their stay - Buster was fascinated by the horses in the field opposite the lodge, doing his best doggie guard impression to make sure they didn't leap over the river to our balcony! They were so tired when we left they slept the whole way home!

Such a lovely place, we cannot recommend it highly enough, so much so, we have decided not to go abroad this summer, but have booked our 3rd stay for week in August! A weekend is nice, but not long enought for me, I never want to leave!

Thank you again Robert & Kathy, we can't wait to come back again!

“Cosy little cottage on the banks of a beautiful stream”
Reviewed 26 November 2013 for a stay in November 2013

Charming and romantic accommodation, very comfortable for two people and a baby, though a bit too small for us as our parents were staying with us as well. Beautiful views from the lounge room overlooking the Troutbeck river. Very well furnished lounge room and kitchen. Bedrooms are very small and beds were hard uncomfortable. But location was brilliant for driving to Windermere and the park that the cabin is in is very beautiful and perfect for taking nature walks. I can definitely recommend this for small families and people looking to enjoy the fresh air and countryside of the Lakes District.

Management Response
30 Nov 2013
We're glad you had a lovely stay at the Lodge and you all enjoyed the views and the river. It is a great location in a beautiful area. You booked for a party of 4 and had we known you were a party of 5 we would have advised you that the Lodge bedrooms would feel a bit small. We have another Lodge (Puddleduck Lodge) that would have been more suitable. All the mattresses at both Lodges are new and we find that guests generally prefer firmer ones.
