Not sure where to start, as we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day break.
We had afternoon tea on arrival, worth noting if you take a china cup & saucer they promise to use it & donate £1 to charity. I don't eat wheat so only asked for decaff coffee, when it arrived it came with a selection of gluten free cakes:)
We ate evening meal both nights and it was delicious, all local produce.
Breakfast was just as nice, buffet followed by a choice of cooked.
I think we went home twice our body weight!
We stayed in The Rowan suite, which was large & airy. It had furniture which was in keeping with the oldy worldy theme plus a jacuzzi bath. Also worth noting Tempur mattress, boy did I sleep well.
The main house is beautiful with a bar and a music room. 50s music played quietly in the background and was a nice touch, real fires throughout which added to the atmosphere. The grounds where lovely for strolling around and we even had a swing lol.
Staff - all staff were friendly, approachable and always available to chat. Nothing was too much trouble. You could pick someone who had given exceptional customer service and they would be given £100, we couldn't fill this in as each member deserved it:) I cannot compliment the hotel or the staff enough:)

We went here for my birthday and had the afternoon tea which was very good! We used my tastecard which gives 50% off! The tea was huge! They said we could take anything home with us if we couldnt manage it all which was good.

Well recommend.

Enjoyed our night at Broadoaks ,all the staff we met were professional and could not have been more pleasant, even to calling our small dog by his name. The evening meal was also a good experience with good food and a reasonably priced bottle of wine. Our only niggle was that the dining tables are too small, with all the cutlery, glasses, condiments, flowers etc. there was hardly room to put the plates down.

I had my wedding here in April 2013 and picked the venue as it's in a beautiful spot and has a lovely feel to it. The food was first class, much better than anything I've eaten at other weddings before. The rooms were all different and done to a high standard. We had a fantastic private wedding day but there was a couple of issues that prevents me starring 5 out of 5. First was we were told we would get asked if we wanted exclusive use of the lodges (newly built at the time). We said we did so were surprised when we came to email with our guest list of who was in what room, and were told that a lodge had been booked by someone not in our party! There was a tense couple of hours until I found proof in the form of an email stating that we had exclusive use. I felt rather let down, like we were making up what had been agreed. Apart from that issue our music we spent a long time picking didn't work as, for some reason, a member of staff wouldn't work their docking station with our ipod on. They insisted one of our guests do it, naturally no one was keen as they had come to watch us get married not try and work the player! So in the end a guest volunteered but didn't get it working until it was too late and we were signing the marriage certificate. It ruined their day a bit as they thought it might of spoiled ours!
Also the staff that introduced us to our guests got our surname massively wrong- it was actually very funny but it would of been an idea to check with us before we entered the room how to pronounce it!!
We still had a fabulous day and is perfect for a private wedding venue

...and the bar made from the Old Post office is a lovely feature. Friendly staff, fantastic location. The music room with the William Morris freeze is beautiful and my friend who was looking at the venue to get married is really excited about that being the room where she will be saying her vows. Will be returning for afternoon tea.

Wow what a weekend, we celebrated my husbands 40th birthday at Broadoaks last weekend. It was fabulous and we felt so special. The staff couldn't do enough for us. They were so friendly and welcoming. The private dining experience in the orangery was out of this world! The food was world class, the setting perfect and all members of the family thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Our 3 kids ages 11, 9 and 4 were made to feel so welcome and they could get enough of the delicious food. The private dining experience meant we could relax and not worry about disturbing other guests so a fabulous time was had by all.

The most impressive things about Broadoaks are the little finishing touches. If you've forgotten to bring anything, they have it on hand and you don't even need to ask. For example, my 4 year old daughter cut her finger and outside the toilet were a selection of plasters of various sizes. These were found with toothbrushes, nail files, spare tights, hairspray, perfume. You name it they have it!

I've never written a review before but felt I need to share the joy we experienced at our family celebration this weekend. I stay in a lot of hotels with my job and I can honestly say I've never experienced one this good.

We pre-booked afternoon tea for three people at Broadoaks as a treat to end our holiday in the Lake District. On arrival we were taken through to The Orangery and asked what drinks we wanted. We ordered two coffees and a tea; however, no choice of teas was offered as stated on the bar menu.

Our afternoon tea arrived and though it was enjoyed by the three of us, we thought it strange that there were only two of each type of cake and scone. A lovely selection of cakes and sandwiches were provided; however, the service was not the friendliest and it would have been nice to have been offered refills of tea and coffee during our afternoon tea.

After finishing our food, an afternoon tea for two people arrived on the next table which was exactly the same as the one we had been provided for three people. As we had already finished our food, we queried this on receiving the bill as we had been charged for three afternoon teas. After an awkward wait, the bill was amended so that we were only charged for two afternoon teas; however, no apology or explanation was given as to why this had happened tarnishing the experience somewhat.

Overall an average experience.
