Overpriced - This zoo has the potential to be fantastic however it is run down and shabby a lot of the enclosures are dirty and badly maintained. The volunteers time could also be managed more effectively by asking them to paint a fence or have a tidy round instead of as we witnessed today 2 volunteers sat on the floor of the car park pulling out weeds I'm afraid weeds are the least of your worries. I really wish we had spent the extra hour in the car to visit one of the other zoos we came away disappointed and saddened after less than an hour. :(

Used to go here very frequently when our daughter was little, and revisited it last weekend with friends and their kids. It's still a great place to visit, and the snow leopards are just fabulous, although it's a shame that their viewing tunnel is so scratched and cloudy - you feel like you're peering at them through a fog. The aviaries had been dismantled, so that area was a bit of a building site, and there are certain enclosures that just look a bit tatty! Having said that, the animals all look in good condition, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and no doubt funding is hard to come by. We spent a good couple of hours there, and felt it was good value for money.

We are really into animals and love places like this , the mrs has a degree in animal welfare and runs a similar place so we are always keen to check them out !
Absolutely loved today, started off in the gift shop well presented and reasonable priced. Cafe looked basic and slightly expensive. Just made it in time for the insect demo and I got to hold a rose spider very cool. The ginger kid giving the talk was very helpful and did a good job. We walked round the indoor bit and came across the leaf cutter ants ! Brilliant , they have there hive on one side and they use a rope as a travel path where the shoulder ants are helping the workers transport the leaves. Very cool. Some other good animals in that area.
The aquarium was good well maintained marine tank with most of the nemo cast. And one of them lung fish of river monsters. Horrible creature !!.
Onto the outside bit we saw the guinea fowl all living happily with those capibura type things. Very good.
Now the meerkat hill , brilliant set up they are so friendly and mischievous , there was also 3 babies !!! So so cute it was brilliant , cheekily stroked one before the lookout meerkat alerted the rest haha !
Snow leopards are beautiful majestic animals and it does upset us slightly seeing them in a confined space. The female was chilling at the top I the observation tunnel at the back , her tail dangled into the fence near the wooden panel entrance to the tunnel so I jumped up and touched it haha.
The young ones eventually came out and it was so good being able to see them , we got some brilliant photos of us pretending to touch the leopards . Took a lot of very good photos Infact, I think the tunnel could do with upgrading to good glass rather than scratch able Perspex. Just our opinion.
All in all a very well informative and tidy place with lots of good animals . And at £10 each was happy. Also seen the red squirrel very impressed and the fossa such a beautiful animal that we had no idea existed. Could have spent lots more time there, quality over quantity with this place and we were both very impressed. Keep up the good work Lakeland wildlife oasis !

For £26.40 it was rather shabby and overpriced for what we saw. We expected more animals outdoors and more appealing interactive displays indoors. The plastic tunnel through the snow leopard enclosure was so scratched and/or dirty we could barely see through it. A couple of the enclosures were a bit smelly. To be fair it was a very warm day but it put our five year old son right off - he got bored after about an hour so we left.

This little zoo is packed with so many creatures great and small, and depending on how much time you have or how much you want to learn you could whizz around in an hour or spend 5 hours there. The staff are wonderful and will talk to you about any of their animals, but do watch out for their special talks about reptiles or insects and the feeding times for different animals too. The snow leopards are wonderful but then so are the tiny frogs. I have been on many occasions, for parties, visits and most recently a Keeper day which was brilliant and worth every penny for my daughter and her friends, feeding lemurs and being climbed all over by them was the highlight ! The café serves good food and the shop has a great variety of gifts.
Highly recommended for a fun, interesting and informative day out.
