Delicious home cooked food, beer and service. Phoned up the with less than a week's notice to ask whether they offered vegan food. I was told that this would be no problem at all. On arrival the pub was busy but the staff were incredibly welcoming. They had prepared an exclusive vegan menu with three starter options and three main meal options - AMAZING care, attention and detail. The food was excellent (vegan and non vegan) and our family meal was a great success having been out walking in the rain and hail all day. We loved it and will be back. Thank you team Strands Inn - you were a ray of sunshine!

Our friends booked this pub/restaurant, it is one of two in close proximity to a local camp site. It was booked with 24 hrs notice. The menu is not exhaustive but just enough. On arrival it was clear they were busy, it took ages to get served and we were told that two of the main courses were sold out. On ordering we were then told everything the four of us ordered was sold out. The then said there was on dish previously sold out now available. This left either steak or gammon or vegetarian which is poor considering those people that dropped in had a choice and those that booked had little. Feedback is that if you get people committing 24hrs in advance the give them the option of ordering if you are likely to be busy.
So the food we had was one pie and three steaks. The pie was good apparently. The two mushroom starters were small and overpriced at almost £6. We got the hard sell on steaks, at almost £19 a go they were average. Mine specifically was not cooked well and just about ok. Soggy chips and dry steak for £19 poor and well over priced.

A truly delightfull pub brewing and selling a good range of real ales. Didn't eat ther but saw the meals emerging from the kitchen and the food looked and smelt gorgeous. This is in a fairly isolate location yet the place was full and most people were eating so the must be doing something right!

Top notch pub grub. Generous portions are just the ticket after a hard day on the fells. They brew their own beer on site... Some are better than others. Highly recommended.
