“Worth the detour”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

This pub is superb, a proper traditional inn, all wood and stone set in the heart of a pretty village. We had a great meal which was freshly prepared in good sized amounts and the puddings were delicious too. I had fish my husband had gammon which were beautifully cooked and they had a selection of puddings and cakes on a board so I assume they change regularly. I had my favourite sticky toffee pud, it was a huge portion and absolutely delicious. Plus they brew their own beer the owner has his own microbrewery on site. According to my husband the beer was superb, in fact he liked it so much he is going to order some online to be delivered when we get back! Also just a minute or two's drive is Wastwater one of the most beautiful lakes in the Lake District. Well worth a detour if you are in the area.

“Great food and friendly atmosphere”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 via mobile

There were 7 of us and we all ordered steak & ale pie. The portion size was unbelievably huge and full of large chunks of beef, half a cow I think. It was gorgeous and the friendly atmosphere made it a great experience. Worth the money

“Great food”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

Food was freshly prepared and it was one of the best beef and ale pies I have tried. Would love to try the ale next time I'm passing through.

“Sunday dinner”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Called here on Sunday the 27th July for Sunday dinner.
We ordered beef and one pork dinner. The girl who took our order was miserable and rude and made us feel like we should not be there. The plates cold and practically
thrown on the table. Large Yorkshire pudding was inedible, the meat cold and tough.
The veg were brought to the table 5 mins after the food.
