We were recommended this Little Gem of a B&B by a colleague of mine, and I have to say that both my husband and I were not disappointed. The place was spotless and full of character with great attention to detail in the rooms. The English Breakfast was excellent and made with locally sourced produce according to our hosts, who were both very welcoming and attentive. I would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone considering visiting the Western Lake District.

We stayed at the Bay Horse in March and can only say we will definitely be back. It has been wonderfully restored by Mike and Elaine and the attention to detail is exceptional. The warm welcome, the lovely room with all the little extras, the comfortable bed and the best english breakfast ever made this a memorable weekend.

Highly recommended!!

Ravenglass is a delightful village made perfect by the Bay Horse. Close to the Lake District, served by two railways, with three pubs (well at least one might take exception to that description!) and excellent accommodation what more could one want? We spent two very comfortable nights at the Bay Horse and I would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Elaine and Mike for making us so welcome and we shall certainly be coming back.

My partner and I stuck a pin in a map for our spur-of-the-moment weekend. We couldn't have been luckier. Elaine and Mike were gracious hosts, welcoming us at the door and making sure that we had everything we needed. We also appreciated all the personal touches like the composting of the tea bags and the locally-sourced food. We will definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: All are good.

If you want a break by the sea and within the Lake District tthis is the perfect B&B. few places may be regarded as of a unique kind, but Ravenglass is one such place, and the Bay Horse is exceptional. When you can find such a combination you must try it at least once. The rooms are tastefuly furnished and the food (locally sourced of course) is of high quality. If I can recommend anywhere it is the Bay Horse.

Really lovely cottage with exposed beams, tastefully furnished and decorated in keeping with the style of the cottage. Very friendly and helpful couple. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Gorgeous breakfast with plenty of choice to set you up for the day. Great location, so peaceful and lots to see and do in the surrounding area. Pub just up the road serving traditional pub food. Cant wait to see the new room they are about to renovate, I am sure it will be fantastic! We shall certainly return. The Bay Horse is one of the best B and B we have ever stayed in.

We could only get away for one night for our wedding anniversary but we left the Bay Horse feeling refreshed and relaxed. From first impressions - barrow loads (literally) of flowers in front of a lovingly restored 18th century house - to the delicious jar of home made rhubarb and ginger jam that we left with we could not have asked for more.
We loved the quirkiness of the old house; Mike and Elaine have done a fantastic job of combining modern comforts with this beautiful listed building. The breakfast was delicious and vegetarians were well catered for. We particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit salad and home made jams.
Fresh fruit in the room was another nice touch and not something you see very often in B&Bs.
All in all - highly recommended!
