If you can then do talk a walk upto the waterfalls situated near Dalegarth Station. Its a bit tricky specially with older people and very young ones. Not suitable if you are carrying a pram / buggy / stroller.

Stacks of beautiful Steam engines here for the enthusiast, but one does not need to be a steam enthusiast to enjoy the trip through to Eskdale, very picturesque journey for adults and children alike. a must do while in the area, either from Eskdale or Ravenglass.

After a walk from The Woolpack Inn at the head of Eskdale the sight and sound of the RAER was very welcome.
We made full use of the cafe with excellent, freshly made sandwiches and a really nice cup of tea, then bought our tickets, watched one train leave full of people before wandering into Ravenglass and checking out the Book Fair.
Back to station in time for the next departure and then sit back and enjoy the trip as we meandered round Muncaster Fell and then adjacent to the River Esk. Excellent value and a great way to round off an excellent walk.

We hadn't planned on visiting the railway but when we saw it we couldn't resist it. It was a wonderful return journey and Ravenglass is a very interesting village and well worth a walk around especially when the tide is out. Take advantage of the half price offer with the train tickets to go on the Ulswater Steamers.
