Excellent family friendly hotel, spacious rooms and free parking. Don' get caught out for parking at steam train it's a two minute walk but worth the visit and you can use Tesco tokens to pay for it. Good location for a trip to Scarfell Pyke

Room Tip: Family rooms were separated through an archway perfect and spacious breakfast fabulous

Arrived with 2 dogs and one grandchild. Room very comfortable and spotlessly clean we are dinner in the restaurant and can highly recommend the 3 course table d'hote. A pleasure to find a hotel of this standard and dog friendly to boot. Will return.

We stayed here to visit Muncaster Castle. The hotel is owned by the family who own Muncaster, and we received 50% on the entrance fee. Food was excellent, staff very friendly, breakfast very fresh and very hot. Local train service (second adult travels half price) to Carlisle and Lancaster round the corner from the hotel. There is also a "toy" train service for enthusiasts up int the hills.
WE enjoyed the hotel and the atmosphere of the village and would return. (An old hand cranked petrol pump in a garden displays1/5d per gallon!!!)

Room Tip: ASk for room 8. It has one of the best sea views.

I had a large, comfortable rooms with a great shower. The food was cooked to orderfrom local ingredients and looked and tasted marvellous.

The only let-down was the internet connectivity in my room, which was practically non-existent. In the Maui lounge and bar it was booming, but for a business trip it wasn't really satisfactory.

That said, I would definitely stay again if in the area.

We visited the hotel for lunch after a trip to the Ravenglass railway. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was excellent, great quality and full of delicious favours. The bar where we ate was comfy and a pleasant place to relax. We will definitely be back.

Stopped here for just one night, while we were attending a play at the nearby Muncaster Castle. As the play finished a little later than expected we were too late for dinner but the friendly staff fixed us up with a superb soup and excellent sandwiches which more than made up for it.

The room was large, spotless and very well appointed. Breakfast was excellent and overall we both rated this hotel as a wonderful experience.

We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 22 is very quiet, but you MUST close the curtains as it is overlooked by the car park.
