Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Set in the shadow of the glorious Howgills near Sedbergh and restored from a Victorian woollen mill, Farfield Mill provides an excellent visit for arts and heritage enthusiasts alike. Take your time to discover a programme of top-quality exhibitions; a unique range of fine art and crafts created by resident and visiting artists; fascinating displays telling the history of the Mill; weekday demonstrations of weaving, rag-rugging or lace-making; rugs and throws produced on the mill’s own looms… plus Weavers Café for delicious food, including Farfield-made cakes, scones and daily specials and traditional Sunday Lunch (12-3).

“Never disappointed! A real delight!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2014

I've eaten here several times and am never disappointed. Very accommodating to speciality diets, great vegan and gluten free options and very accommodating with changing meals to fit with diets.

Pretty room, nice atmosphere, delicious food, very much recommended. Good disabled access with lift down, although short slope to push wheelchair in entrance so good with helper in wheelchair user.

Heritage centre itself is well worth a visit, good activities for children on the top floor, learning to weave, French knit rag rug etc.

“Farfield Mill in Winter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit - somewhere we never tire of as there is always so much to see (and buy!). The cafe is also excellent with super soup, sandwiches and cakes. A great destination, especially on a winter's day
