We stayed at Shap Wells Hotel en route to the Highlands - a perfect part-way stop! The room we were allocated was immaculate and comfortable. There was a large clean bathroom, and our dog too was welcome. The breakfast staff were lovely, they could not have been more helpful or friendly. There are nice walks close by and we will certainly be staying again in the near future.

Room Tip: There is the option to stay in the main hotel, or the Bath House, which is a separate building comfo...

Thank you for your excellent review after your recent stay on route to Scotland.
I was very pleased to read you enjoyed your visit and we look forward to welcoming you again when you are next passing by.
The Hotel is located 2 miles from junction 39 off the M6 motorway and is an ideal place to break a journey if you are travelling North or South. We are able to provide accomodation in the Bath House for our guests travelling with Pets like we did on your visit.
Once again thank you for your positive feedback.

Set in lovely surroundings with a walk to see the red squirrels, (we were only a few feet away from one). If you are looking for a relaxing setting then this is the place to go, with the sound of the stream flowing past. Could not fault the food. Pleasant caring staff, nothing was too much bother.

First visit to Shap Wells, but certainly will not be my last,on arrival,we were shown into the waiting area,as we were attending a Country and Western show in the evening, included was a carvery evening meal, which I have to say the meal was excellent and the value was tremendous..... the only down side was, the drinks were a bit pricey, but given the fact that the hotel is off the beaten track sort of speak, that was understandable,...the hotel was comfortable ,clean and the staff were very efficient and polite....all in all we enjoyed our short stay ,,and will be back, hopefully for a longer stay next time....

Room Tip: Be prepared for a surprise as to the location of the hotel as you have to encounter sheep and lambs...

Thank you for your review I was very pleased to read you enjoyed your visit after attending the Irish Concert Evening at the Hotel.
We have many of these Concerts throughout the year and the Carvery Operation works well before the live Entertainment.
The Hotel always does a price comparison with our Competitor Hotels in the area to ensure our Bar prices are in line with them and even though we are out in the Country our prices remain comparable.
We hope we have the opportunity to see you again and if you are considering a longer stay then maybe you might consider our Irish Festival Weekend which we hold every year at the end of February.
In 2015 we will be holding our 9th Annual Irish Festival Weekend please contact the Hotel for further details.
Once again thank you for your excellent feedback.

just spent the weekend at the Shap Well Hotel in Cumbria and cannot fault the experience. The stay was a xmas present from our son but this was the first opportunity to use it. The hotel is in a remote location but provides easy access to surrounding area Appleby, Brough, Penrith and Carlisle. The service from all members of staff was friendly and welcoming, the facilities and food were better than expected. All in all a experience that we are going to repeat later in the year, hoping to make use of Buyagift as the value was excellent.

We recently visited this hotel for a nice getaway and we weren't disappointed. The staff were lovely and the bar food was delicious! Plus very reasonably priced - bonus! The views were beautiful with some delightful walks nearby. The hotel is close to Kendal and within driving distance of Ulverston and Windermere, both lovely places to visit. The room was lovely with the sound of the river outside and was nice and warm - and at only £50 for the night was definitely a good deal

This hotel does have rooms fitted for the disabled visitor, but no provision for the mobile elderly.

In most of their rooms the shower is over the bath. Added to the awkwardness of low head-room, the main trouble here is that there is no grab-rail!!!

Rooms allocated to elderly visitors should not have just poor provision.
Just having a rubber-mat inside the bath is NOT enough.
