“A great B&B.”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

This was our first time in the lakes, the B&B that John and Mandy have is just great.
It is quiet, comfortable, the rooms are a great size, the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was very good with both bath and shower.
Breakfast was first class it set us up for the day.
John and Mandy are good hosts very helpful about the area and places to eat, they recommended the Blacksmiths at Brigrigg and we where not disapointed a great and friendly restauraunt.
If we are up in Cumbria again we would go back to Ellerbreck manor we enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: This is a recently renovated B&B of high standard you will not be disapionted with any room.

I've stayed here a couple of times and find it very comfortable and relaxing place to say. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely appointed. The bathrooms all work well. Breakfast is served upstairs. Guests get use of a downstairs kitchen and lounge area, which means that you could bring food to prepare if you prefer.

Stayed for two nights mid week in November. This B&B is close to St Bee's. It is a recently renovated barn which has been tastfully been decorated. The place was very comfortable and the shower room fantastic - under floor heating, walking in shower, etc.

Breakfasts very good also. I would strongly recommend this place for work / holiday.

I had mucked up the bookings for the beginning of the Coast to Coast walk and had my mate and me in St Bee's a day early. I realised this only a few days before we flew out of Australia and frantically searched for beds for the extra night.

I got onto John and he was able to give us a twin room. Sheer relief and what a lucky find, thought I....a manor house with a vacancy. John kindly picked us up at St Bee's Station and drove us "home". The "manor" turned out to be a fairly new and modern build and we were shown to a great room on the first floor, spacious and with a good ensuite bathroom. The bathroom did have an "interesting" shower screen that, because neither of us is an engineer, saw us struggling to stop the bathroom flooding, but this is small stuff in the scheme of things.

The B&B is comfortable, warm, secure and quiet! The beds were comfortable, we slept well, and we found John and Mandy to be excellent hosts. They advised us on local restaurants, and their advice was so good that we went back to Blacksmiths in Bigrigg both nights we were in St Bee's. They served us a great breakfast and were extremely hospitable. Because we couldn't check into our next B&B until the afternoon, John kindly drove us to a local laundrette so we could fill in the hours making sure we had clean gear for our walk!

John can be a bit off in his directions, more around distance than anything else. He told us we could walk to a couple of places - we got cabs and were very glad we did as the mile or two quickly turned into five or more!

Am I complaining? No, definitely not! Both of us enjoyed this stay. It is great to be with people who take pride in what they are doing. I'd stay there again.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask John for a lift BUT beware his judgement of distance! (sorry John - could...

My husband and I stayed at Ellerbeck Manor over the bank holiday weekend and can honestly say the accommodation was fantastic. The barn is beautiful, surrounded by countryside, great value for money and the owners John and Mandy couldn't do enough for us. They gave us great advice and information on the local area and set us up for the day with a tasty cooked breakfast. We had a lovely break and would definitely stay at Ellerbeck Manor again. Highly recommended.

we will definately be returning here, we just hope they dont get that popular that they cant fit us in. Breakfast was superb and nothing is too much trouble for the owners. The accomodation is wonderful and spotless, d highly reccomend to families or couples. the room we stayed in was beautiful with a large roll top bath and a shower ensuite and a super kingsize bed!
