Owner description: The Beer Hall is the Hawkshead Brewery tap, but within it are many things: visitors' centre, specialist international beer shop, function room, conference room and The Beer Kitchen providing the perfect food to complement the beer - our "Beer Tapas." The Beer Hall is a showcase for real ale and has a Cask Marque award for serving “the perfect pint”.

Despite its setting on an industrial estate the brewery and tap is very light and airy with plenty of comfortable seating, full range of their beers on draught and plenty in bottles to take away including gift packs. Also has a restaurant, very nice helpful ladies behind the bar, just wish I'd had a driver would have stayed all day!

The range of beer is superb and the quality is up there with the best. The food is equally good, be it the English tapas or the fantastic Sunday roast. The third wonder of Hawkshead is the staff, always cheery and helpful. Worth five stars plus.

What a great place, the mill yard is a brilliant mixture of small shops, cafes and businesses in Staveley. The brewery reminds me of micro breweries in the US and Canada, open plan, wooden seating, brewing tanks behind glass, extensive choice of great beers, laid back feeling, robust beer tapas. We had huntsman pie, plaice goujons, ribs. All chunky great quality snacks. Well worth a visit.

If you are after a quiet pint, don't come to the Hawkshead Brewery at Staveley near Windermere.
However, if you want a pint of exceptionally good real ale that was brewed just yards from where you are sitting then make a bee line for this independent brewery that has become a mecca for real ale enthusiasts. The purpose built brewery building opened in 2006 after it outgrew it's original location in Hawkshead. On the ground floor is a massive bar serving all the brewery products plus a variety of wines. On the first floor is a dining area and yet another bar overlooking the brewing process.
This was my first visit (but definitely not the last) as a surpise destination on Fathers Day. My choice of 'Brodies Prime' (a seductive, pitch black ale weighing in at 4.9% ABV) was right up my street and confirmed that I had been transported to a beer drinker's heaven..
On this occasion, we did not sample the food menu as we were booked in elsewhere but I was amazed at the choice available - definitely next time!
So, why not come here for a quiet pint? Well, the acoustics of the building seem to amplify the convivial blabber of families, kids and dogs to make conversation difficult when it is busy, but hey, this is what makes it a fantastic venue for a great pint and a slap up meal.
Staveley may have been by-passed but don't make the mistake of driving by without calling in to sample the many delights at the old Mill Yard.

We had a excellent lunch at the brewery, I had the beer tapas and the rest of my group had the pork burger. There is a good selection of beers but not so much for non drinkers, but there are other places to buy soft drinks near by. My husband and dad enjoyed the tour which is good value for money £6.50 and includes 2 half pint tasters. Worth the trip out.
