I never write reviews but feel compelled to do so after visiting Staveley Hawkshead Brewery. It is set within a kind of industrial estate and therefore outside tables are basically in a car park. As it was a lovely warm day, we risked it but a delivery arrived so a forklift truck went back & forth right by our table about 20 times beeping its warning alarm & churning out exhaust fumes & engine noise.
We'd ordered fish & chips & plaice gougons. The chips looked like they'd be fried about 8 times & the fish was over-battered frozen triangle-shapes. The plaice gougons were slithers of fish caked in greasy batter & despite asking for a flight of 3 beers, they don't do that...at a brewery!? so had a couple of separate halves. Couldn't stay long as it was impossible to talk or relax.
I'm sure it's a good brewery but I wouldn't advise you eat & certainly not outside!
