My Wife and I ate here on a Monday evening. The pub oozes character, there was a good choice of local ales and the lady behind the bar was welcoming.
I had a 5 bean chilli which was absolutely excellent with a good level of spicing which was just as I liked. My Wife had the steak and ale pie which she enjoyed but found the vegetables a little too al dente. However we both enjoyed the food and the surroundings.
Recommended.

Popped into this inn on a circular walk from Newby Bridge. Owner couldn't have been more welcoming. Choice of unusual items on the menu was a lovely surprise. Comfortable chairs, warm fire and newspapers to accompany the delicious food what could be better on a cold misty day in the Lakes?

Just returned home from another marvellous long weekend at the White Hart. Great pub for a stay South Lakeland with great beers, great food and absolutely fanstastic staff team. Can't recommend enough.

Room tip: Room 4 is a family room, rooms 3 & 5 are original part of the pub and have exposed beams etc., 1 & 2 are more modern.

Having eaten and drank here in the past, we decided to have a 2 night break here. The room was warm and cosy (no3) though no views, but lots of character. The velux window over the bed gave us the added bonus of looking at the stars!! The bathroom has low beams, which was tricky for us taller people when maneuvering in and out of the bath. There was no noise disturbance from the bar, despite there being a large party on both nights, it was a most relaxing stay. Loved the fact there were mugs on the tea tray and bottled waters too. The food is excellent, we ate here both nights and the full English is a real plateful of locally sourced produce. The breakfast room has great views from which we observed deer on one of the mornings. Staff are very friendly too. Would love to stay again sometime and can definitely recommend staying in his traditional country inn. .

Room tip: I believe rooms at the back have good views.

We were only able to stay on Sunday night 4 September, but what a good find. The pub is a quaint oak beamed village pub with great atmosphere and friendly obliging staff giving excellent service. We were in Room 4 which is a spacious well appointed family room with a double and two single beds. The beds were very comfortable and the pub is very peaceful and is very reasonably priced. I think this room is the only one which is not en suite but that is no problem as it has a private bathroom just opposite. The dining room for breakfast was most pleasant with good food and service. We greatly enjoyed our brief stay and hope to come again soon.

Room tip: If you want a twin room, room 4 is ideal
