Description: The Ship's Wheel Cafe has been in operation for over 20 years. When the previous owner retired recently he closed the cafe but quickly it was taken up, on lease, by myself to continue the tradition of having a cafe at 11 King Street. A lot of people put in a lot of hours to brighten up the place and bring to the fore it's maritime theme, focusing on the striking feature of an old World War II era fishing trawler's ship's wheel which forms the cafe's main light fitting. Here at the Ship's Wheel Cafe we focus on producing good hearty food at heart-warming prices. That and a friendly welcome, of course! Oh, and if you happen to have a doggy with you, that's OK too. We love dogs here :)

Whilst not spectacular to look at, it serves good food at good value prices. The poached eggs are the best I have had anywhere. The "specials" board offers a variety of delightful dishes which can include a really tasty broccoli & stilton soup. The owner Adrian is a really nice guy who makes diners feel very welcome.

Popped in here for a coffee while on a trip with my mum as she worked here over 24 years ago.
The owner Adrian was lovely and the coffee was just as nice.
This is a lovely little cafe and would recommend it :)

Pleasantly surpised, and much enjoyed. While this place isn't spectacular in appearance or menu, it serves good food at good value prices- particularly bearing in mind this is a "tourist town". We enjoyed a chicken curry baked potato each form the specials board which was lovely, substantial and reasonably priced.
The only downside is that the toilet is at the back of the building and requires you leave the restaurant and walk round outside.
