First time staying in a b&b, beautiful area, with easy access to ulverston, will hopefully be able to visit again, sam is great and can give great advice on where to go. Breakfast as everyone has said is wonderful. Stayed in the barn and as a family with young children this was perfect as didn't have to worry about the little ones waking up and waking up others.

Room tip: Seperate barn great for a family loads of room

We have never been to such a beautiful place where everything we read on the web site was so
100% correct and more!
The people were lovely and nothing was too much trouble we stayed for 9 days in the Barn and we could of stayed longer.
The food was so yummy and if you wanted something different that was no problem. There was fresh flowers, little treats that awaited us on our return from going out was a lovely gesture and the bed was so comfortable we didnt want to get up!
Thank you so much for making a much needed break so wonderful, any one lucky enough to stay here ENJOY you wont be disappointed.

Myself and my partner stayed for 2 nights on 29th/30th August. It is the first time I have stayed in a B&B as I would normally choose a boutique style hotel but I chose Candelwyck on the strength of the Trip Advisor reviews and photos.

Candlewyck is set in a peaceful location but just a few minutes walk from the town. We stayed in the main house and our room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom next door was spacious and well equipped with a bath and walk in shower, and the Neom organic toiletries added a touch of luxury.

Breakfast was excellent with your choice of fresh fruit, cereal, toasted local organic bread or a full English with produce from their own farm cooked on the Aga.

Hosts Sam and Angus were very warm and friendly and could not have been more helpful. As mentioned by a previous reviewer Sam went above and beyond without being intrusive in any way and I think that is one of the reasons that this property is No 1 in the area and deservedly so.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and would definitely stay again at a future date.

Candlewyck is everything you hope a country B&B will be: there's an attractive stone exterior; a broad staircase; a bright landing with a stained-glass window; and a kitchen with a long wooden table, an Aga, and the friendly company of your hostess. The decor is comfortably elegant, and its pretty details give the impression they were assembled with care over time. Our bed was super comfortable; don't forget to eat the delicious treat on the dresser. The bathroom is luxurious, with a spacious shower and satisfyingly hot water delivered at the right pressure, and it also comes with lovely organic bath products. The breakfast is large, the sausages are fantastic, and the egg yolks come as as runny or as firm as you like. On the practical side, we were very happy Candlewyck takes one-night bookings (though we would have liked to stay longer). There's also easy off-street parking, the location is quiet but within easy walking distance of the restaurants in town, and the price is really reasonable. Note: We stayed in the main house; there's also a barn conversion.

after trawling the internet for hotel rooms, with little joy, found this little gem! from the 1st phone call, u just get a warm friendly vibe from sam, who was lovely and couldnt of been more helpful. we stayed in the barn which we loved. it is everything you'd want - modern, nipping clean, lovely views and all the little extras were very much appreciated, from the fresh flowers, to the delicious brownies at the side of your bed!!
breakfast was brought over by sam every morning! fresh fruit, toast, cereal and a delicious full english fresh from their own farm!
