We ended up in the Lake District almost by coincidence and needed somewhere to stay (we live in London), after calling the B&B we were greeted with a heartfelt warm welcome by the host Avril. The views are absolutely gorgeous and you could almost hear the peaceful silence! The room with everything was in classic tip-top shape with nothing to spare.

I must add that Avril almost felt like family after staying only for one night. My wife and I would definitely recommend this place in a heartbeat. The stay in itself turned into an experience and it beats a generic hotel stay by miles. If you'd like to have a peaceful stay with gorgeous views, in a quaint setting and warm hospitality then this is the place for you.

The location of Newbiggin Hall is just amazing, on the outskirts of Ulverston. The views are spectacular and its so peaceful. Avril is a delightful host and she made us so welcome. The old farmhouse is just lovely. We had the twin room which was very comfortable as was the guest lounge and the wonderful conservatory over looking the lovely garden.
Breakfast was first class using locally sourced produce.
We couldn't fault our stay and would definately recommend it anyone looking for peaceful and beautiful setting for a stay in the south lakes. We will be returning as we have family locally. Thanks Avril for a very pleasant stay.

This was my second visit to the B&B and there's no faulting any aspect of our stay. The B&B is located in a lovely, quiet area about a mile away from Ulverston itself (a 5 minute drive). The rooms are spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. You could happily sit in the large conservatory and just gave out at the great views.

Visiting the B&B is more like visiting a close relative thanks to Avri's warmth and the caring way she genuinely ensure's your stay is as relaxing and comfortable as possible.

The choice of food at breakfast is excellent, whether you're looking for the healthier option or the (lovely) cooked breakfast - or both! :)

Our stay with Avril was lovely.
The location was perfect,wonderful views.
The welcome was warm,as were the scones.
The room was comfortable and the quiet of the country very restful.
We struggled to book somewhere to eat dinner so picnicked (courtesy of Booth's) on the patio (courtesy of Avril) until 10pm(courtesy of a lovely evening)
My first visit to the Lake district
Definitely not my last!
