“The view we never had . . .”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

Back in the 1980's we almost bought this house, attracted by its character and views, but decided it was too much of a project. Fortunately, someone else took it on and provided the TLC it desperately needed, and last week we were able to enjoy the results of their hard work.

We were welcomed on a cold, gloomy November afternoon with coffee and cake in front of an open fire, watching the light fade over the valleys of Newlands and Borrowdale. We walked round the garden before it became too dark, wrestled from nature on the lower slopes of Skiddaw. We were pleased to see that the summerhouse used by the writer Graham Sutton in the 1950's is still there, and the beck still dances by.

Breakfast was very good, served in a slate-flagged dining room (looking out on that view again) with an excellent selection of fruits, yoghurts, cereals and juices to whet the appetite for the grill, which included eggs from the hens in the garden.

It was a house we never bought, and a view we never had. But last week we just had a glimpse of what we missed.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was the perfect mini break. Its only a 5 minute drive from keswick so close enough to a town if you need it but far enough away for total peace and quiet. The house itself and the grounds are beautiful and the same goes for the room. The host lyn is very welcoming and her attention to detail is very high. Her cooked breakfast is something to look forward to. All in all very good value for money. Only room for improvement would be wi-fi and hairdryer in the rooms but these are minor things.

We have been to Dancing Becks a number of times and will continue to go back. Good accommodation and excellent host. The breakfasts are as good as ive had anywhere.
If the sun is shining there is a wonderful garden and summer house to relax in.
I would have no doubts about recommending Dancing Becks to anyone - in fact a number of our friends have been and now recommend it to other friends.

Room Tip: Front room gives an excellent view of peaks around Keswick. Back room overlooks an area developed fo...

The position of Dancing Beck cannot be bettered. It has wonderful views from all windows, including the feeding of red squirrels from the back bedroom window. It is very peaceful yet only a 5 minute drive from the lovely town of Keswick. Lyn, the landlady, is extremely accommodating. Nothing is too much for her. Breakfast is the best! Thoroughly recommended.

This is a great little B&B. It only has 3 rooms which makes it very cosy. It is immaculately clean and beautifully furnished/decorated. Lyn is a great host and cooks a mean breakfast. I had room 3 which overlooks the garden where you can see red squirrels feeding.

Just bear in mind there are no pubs or restaurants in walking distance - you have to drive or get a taxi - but don't let that put you off - this is a great little place to stay.

The views at the front are stunning. There is a summerhouse in the garden which we sat outside of drinking a bottle of wine and soaking up the view.

Room Tip: There are only 3 rooms, one has a view of the garden, one of the hills and not sure about the third...

Dancing Beck is a wonderful find. A real gem in the lakes , as is the hostess , Lyn. The detached house is full of charm and character. The rooms are very good; clean and finished well . Out side are lovely gardens. Location is superb . There are amazing views and although only a short distance to the A66, making it so easy to get to, once you are there you feel as though you are well away from hustle and bustle. However , Keswick is only a 5 - 10min drive . Lyn is a wonderful hostess , warm and welcoming. Her breakfasts are great too . All in all , Dancing Beck is an out standing and exceptional Bed and Breakfast . Highly Recommended .

Ask me any question and my reply will be excellent! Big rooms, very clean, big modern clean ensuite bathrooms. Quiet location with fantastic views over the valley. We chose the rear facing bedroom to watch the red squirels feeding on the peanuts. We sat in the garden one evening with a bottle of wine. Located 2 miles from Keswick so central for everything the Lake Distric can offer! There is even a walk located just a few yards along he road. The owner was very friendly, helpful, and she freshly cooked a breakfast to match any decent hotel. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Did I mention the views from the breakfast table!! And for something different, ask to see the pet wallabys. We will be back!!!!
