“Nice view with excellent service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2011

Stayed here in May for a weekend break in the Lake District, to sum it up it was wonderful!

The hotel is located outside the village of Keswick and within easy access to the main roads. It is secluded enough but fairly easy to reach.

The room itself was a bit too small for the price we paid (£180 including dinner and breakfast), the photographs on the hotel's website is a bit misleading. However the excellent service from hotel staff and the view from the reading room made up for it. Typical to many listed building hotels in the Lakes, they have a separate reading room and a lounge both of them with superb view of the fells.

After checking in, we went to the reading room and enjoyed a nice pot of tea while reading a book. Perfect relaxation away from work!

Dinner was served from 7.30pm onwards, we got our table at around 8.30pm. We were served a 4 course meal which was delicious but we felt the portions were a bit too big for our liking, we felt like stuffed turkeys after finishing our dinner at around 10.30pm.

Breakfast was superb, continental for my partner and the usual fry up for me along with all the usual spread of fruits, juices and cereals. The sausages were excellent with plenty of meat in it and the bacon was done to perfection.

We would love to go back and probably try staying in their bigger rooms (and ask for smaller portions for our dinner!)

The hotel has a swimming pool as well but we did not get to use it as we wandered out.

I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who does not want to spend over £250 per night prices of similar hotels in the Lakes.

If you want a boutique hotel then look elsewhere but if you want a traditional family hotel situated in a picturesque setting with good quality rooms, pleasant gardens, first class service and wholesome but inventive cuisine, then look no further. Very impressed by this friendly hotel and would come again.

We decided to book into the Derwent suite this time and we wished we had used this room much earlier.....so relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable & peaceful. Look forward to next year......providing we have lost the weight we gained...!! Made to feel so welcome by every single member of the staff. Superb location & views from the lounges, dining room & bedrooms.

We have just spent our 40th wedding anniversary at Lyzzick Hall and would highly recommend this hotel & it’s staff.
We were spoilt right from check in until the time we departed. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautiful, with great view over the Lake District mountains, everywhere was spotless and dinner was made very special for us.

Stayed here in celebration of our mum's 80th birthday. The hotel is in a beautiful location & has a heated indoor pool which the children loved. The staff were very attentive & child friendly (a bonus!!)
Would highly recommend & shall be back sometime in the future

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary, having first stayed there nearly 34 years ago. The place has a kind of magic that you can't help but enjoy your time at this hotel. The views are fantastic, the bedroom was modern and comfortable, the food top class and the staff ultra-friendly. The panoramic view from the coffee lounge is to die for. What more could you ask for but the weather you want. However no matter how good Mr Fernandez is, he has no control over the weather. There is a swimming pool there but we didn't use it on this occasion. The hotel is just far enough out of Keswick and away from the main Carlisle Road for a peaceful stay, but near enough to be in the centre of Keswick in 5 minutes and there is a bus stop directly at the hotel drive entrance. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for, and how!

My wife and I stayed at Lyzzick Hall for a couple of nights during a walking holiday. We picked Lyzzick on the recommendation of some good friends.
What a fantastic place! The views were, of course, breathtaking, but the hotel added so much to the overall experience. The first thing we noticed was how welcoming, helpful and friendly all the staff were. They really made us feel completely at home and nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent and there was a first class selection of wines, suitable for every budget.
Our room, was spacious, spotlessly clean and had a large modern bathroom. Linen and towels were crisp and clean and unlike many hotels, the shower was both hot and powerful. Ideal after a long day's walking.
While we were there, we talked to some other guests who told us they had been there no less than twenty five times. We weren't at all surprised. Lyzzick Hall is an outstanding hotel and we will definitely go back. We are regular travellers all over Europe, USA and the Far East and we always go 4 or 5 star. The stay at this hotel was as enjoyable as any we have ever experienced.
