My wife and I stayed in the Lyzzick Hall Hotel in mid-June this year. We had an offer from kgb deals for a 2 night stay with breakfast and afternoon tea with scones.

We found our room to be very comfortable with a fabulous power shower, which was great to use after a day's walking, the only down side was that the free wifi didnt stretch to the room (we were in room 25 at the back of the hotel). The restaurant was a bit overpriced for us (£30 per person) so we decided to head into Keswick in the evenings. The breakfasts were quite nice with a good selection - both mornings I had the "hearty" breakfast which was good. The service in the hotel was good. We used the pool / sauna which was in a very humid environment (as expected I suppose) I would recommend opening one of the doors and letting some air in. The pool was of a decent size for a hotel and quite warm and its open all day.

Its a nice quiet hotel, perhaps a little too quiet for us (none of the public rooms have a TV) but not to take anything away from the hotel which does have some spectacular views of the surrounding fells.

Outside the hotel, I'd recommend going on the Keswick Launch for a trip on the lake. We got off halfway round and walked part way round which was rather pleasant. The parking costs £7 for the day beside the lake so make sure you have plenty change!

Overall a good break in a good hotel in a wonderful part of North East England.

I had to write this review just to say a big THANK YOU to all the wonderful staff at Lyzzick Hall Hotel. They are all fantastic and made us feel like royalty, nothing was too much trouble ,from finding the right room to cope with my lack of mobility to the beautiful tray of tea and scones when we arrived. There was nothing that you could find fault with. The Hotel is set in beautifully tended gardens and boasts a swimming pool with the best view in Britain.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was wonderful with the sort of touches that could make this a five star establishment.
We hope to make the 260 mile journey again in the near future and try to stay a little longer this time.

Room Tip: If you are little less than nimble ask for room 30. This is a little ground floor room adjacent to t...

returned from a 2 night stay at Lyzzick Hall, the hotel is very comfortable and the staff were very friendly. It could do with a little bit of updating in places but was generally really nice. The pool was a welcome retreat at the end of a days walk and the views were spectacular. We did not eat in the hotel although it did come highly recommended. The walk into Keswick is a bit daunting as there is no footpath and the bus service is poor, you either need a car or the taxi was not badly priced. Overall a great hotel in a fantastic location.

We have stayed at the Lyzzick many times over the years, the last was on my 50th 2 years ago. We have used KGB deals for short breaks recently and were delighted that one of our favourite hotels had come up at £119 for a 2 night stay for 2 BB. We jumped at the chance to stay and have just returned from another great stay. Our room had a beautiful view of what must be the most beautiful valley in the Lakes. The weather was fantastic and we spent a good hour or two in the immaculate gardens after our days spent walking in the area. The pool and jacuzzi was also a welcome diversion and helped to ease the tired legs. The food in the restaurant whilst very good is not quite as good as it used to be (hence the 4 stars and not 5).
We would definitely stay in the Lyzzick again, we always relax the minute that we get there. The staff are so helpful and charming and help to make the stay so memorable. Thank you.

Booked this as a KGB offer as a birthday present for my boyfriend and we certainly were not disappointed. The room was lovely, en-suite and very comfortable. Nice view down the valley. The food was to die for and we would certainly recommend eating at the hotel to anybody. Great selection of food and 5 courses was only £29! Chocolates were delivered as a surprise and the Chef even took the time to write happy birthday on my boyfriend's dessert plate. A lovely touch that just rounded off our stay perfectly. We loved every minute of our stay and would definitely return to Lyzzick!

A former "gentleman's residence", but much extended over the years, about 3 or so miles from Keswick nestling under Skiddaw. The hotel has a view to kill for towards the Newlands Valley with Derwent Water to the left and Bassenthwaite Lake to the right. Service is excellent with very friendly and helpful staff. Food is excellent and good value if you opt for half-board. The wine list has a bias towards Spain & Portugal (not surprising, given the owner is Spanish and the wine waiter Portuguese) and offers excellent value with nothing that should be avoided. The hotel can suffer from an air of old-fashionedness, but don't be put off; this is a period house in the north Lakes and whilst retaining many old features, the decor is fresh and modern - the newish (2011) conservatory has made a big difference. The indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna are a great asset (caution, the jacuzzi controls need a special knack to operate - push firmly once).
Set well back from a not-too-busy road, there is ample parking and a pleasant terraced garden to wander around, with a small children's play area. Alas, red squirrels were not in evidence.
A good centre for the less crowded north Lakes, this is a hotel that we come back to again and again.

Room Tip: Premium rooms in the older part of the house. Go for anything with a view.
