Just returned from a weekend away at Lyzzick Hall to celebrate our wedding anniversary and what a place to celebrate. Everything about this hotel is excellent, the gardens are beautiful and well kept, the hotel itself is very well decorated and immaculately clean. It has a small bar area and large restaurant. 2 lovely lounges to relax in with amazing views overlooking the Cumbrian Fells. The pool area is great, with a jacuzzi & sauna, its for the sole use of hotel guests so we had the pool to ourselves for 2 hours 1 day.We had dressing gowns in our room, so went to the pool in them, no hassle with getting changed etc, pool towels are provided also. We upgraded our room to the Whinlatter and is was worth the extra money, large & spacious with amazing views. There was an issue with water on the Saturday night and Sunday morning, which they handled extremely well under difficult circumstances and gave us a large discount off our bill which we did not have to ask for, along with a very large apology. I think what makes this hotel extra special though is the staff. From the second we walked in till the second we left they couldn't of done more for us, we felt very special and looked after and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant is of the highest quality, along with the service. Breakfast is cooked to order, no buffet style in this hotel. It's in a great location for getting out and about. We didnt want to go hill walking so we went to Buttermere and walked round the lake, it takes about 3 hours and is a lovely leisurely stroll, take a picnic and stop half way round there is plenty of places to stop and relax. I would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone, and will most definitely be going back................. soon i hope!!

Room Tip: We upgraded so we got the views.

We have been staying at Lyzzick Hall for almost twenty years and have seen the changes and improvements. It was always excellent with warm and friendly service and excellent food. Over the last few years some major refurbishment has taken place. Some of the older smaller rooms have been enlarged by knocking three rooms into two, making some 'suites' and some larger rooms. The bathrooms are all modern with copious hot water.

The restaurant is one of the finest in any hotel. The quality of the evening meal is excellent and the chef uses as much locally sourced produce as possible, all freshly prepared to order. The breakfast is delicious and sets you up for the day. First of all you are offered tea or coffee and then your order is taken. Again, the breakfast is freshly cooked using local bacon, eggs
and sausage.

We enjoyed a lovely large double room overlooking the herb garden but in previous years we have stayed in one of the 'premium' front rooms overlooking the fells and also in the 'Garden Room'. These rooms are all you could wish for. We have also had a smaller room near the swimming pool which was, again, very comfortable. The indoor swimming pool is very pleasant, being in a lovely sunny location with sliding patio doors for warmer days. There is also a jacuzzi and sauna.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly and a number of them have worked at Lyzzick Hall for many years.

Lyzzick Hall is a real gem and we have not found another hotel that matches it for quality, service, food and location!

Room Tip: The smaller rooms are near the swimming pool. Being an old house, it is a little bit of a maze with steps up and down in the corridor. Anyone with mobility problems would be best to request a room on the first floor and near the main stairs. I believe there is a room for disabled guests on the ground floor.

Just returned from celebrating our Golden Wedding at Lyzzick Hall . The location, friendly staff, food and attention to detail were first class. Sixteen members of our immediate family were present over 4 days and not one complaint says it all. Two members of the Royal Family were in the next room, this truly shows how highly this hotel is rated.

This hotel is not only set in the most beautiful of places with stunning views is also has THE most amazing staff. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable nothing is too much for the team at the Lyzzick. I have been here for a short stay for some years now and it never ever disappoints!

Room Tip: Views are probably best from the front of the hotel but it doesn't matter really as as soon as you step out they are all around you!
