We visited this country house hotel for dinner to celebrate a special anniversary after hearing many good reports about the quality of the food and we were not disappointed. In fact the whole experience was excellent and as expected the food was very good. However it was the professionalism of the staff who were all knowledgeable friendly and helpful that really made our evening so enjoyable. It would appear from other reviews that the same level of service is given to those staying at the hotel so I would certainly recommend this place for a special short break in the lake district especially as the views of the fells across the valley from the sun room and garden terrace are absolutely stunning.

We would highly recommend this hotel. It has a very friendly welcoming atmosphere. It's location is very picturesque. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is to a high standard made with fresh ingredients. It would be a quite a long walk from Keswick town centre to Lyzzick and part of the walk would be along a road with no paths but we used the buses (that run every two hours) or used taxis' that were about £6 one way. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 6 - near/above the kitchen. Could smell the food cooking from inside the bathroom bu...

We stayed for 5 days in a standard room. The room was immaculate, well furnished & beautifully decorated. Please note the bathroom in standard rooms are very small but this was advised on booking.

Board is flexible & we enjoyed dinner on 2 evenings. The menu of 5 courses was of a high quality with extensive wine menu. No cocktails available.

The setting is beautiful & very relaxing. Staff very helpful and knowledgable of the local area. Location is quiet, yet 5 minutes ivy car from the centre of Keswick.

Stayed here for one night, easy to get to from m6 - A66 , room was pretty nice , as it was a last minute decision to stay we didn't have any swim wear for the pool but it looked nice and clean, we arrived late and had to wait to get a table in the restaurant , I was a little annoyed at the time but once we were served the food that soon disappeared !! Food was beautiful and I could see why the place was packed , great service too, only an hour from home and can't wait for the next stay

We have stayed at this hotel many times however on this visit it was just for dinner. The service remains exemplary and we had a couple of drinks in the bar pre dinner, the food was simply superb, we opted for the fixed four course dinner with coffee at £38 per person.I had scallops with pancetta for starter, soup for second course with fillet steak for mains. Simply couldn't fault anything, never even considered using any condiments as the seasoning was perfect. Had a very nice toro red wine at under £20 finished off the evening with very large Osborne 1866 brandies in the comfortable lounge. All in with pre dinner drinks, food , wine and brandies the bill was £122 which was superb value. What a great chef here. Well done

There is a lovely relaxed feel to this hotel. The staff are very friendly and not too stuffy or pompous. The hotel itself is beautiful and offers stunning views across the valley, either from the lounges, conservatory, terrace or swimming pool. We dined in on both nights of our stay and the food was first class. Like most of the previous reviewers, we hope to go back - regularly!
