“Warning! No under 16's without adult”

Staff not really that friendly. Also No under 16's are aloud in without an adult? Possibly a stereotypical view of teenagers from the management staff? Not all kids are Mischievous!
From previous visits it a nice museum with good food in the cafe. Bit of a shame about the age limit. Went to another establishment where they happily greeted us with a smile and let us in.

“Great Facilities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

We recently used the facilities at The Rum Story for our Management Leadership days and were very happy with the facilities of the education suite , We were given a tour of the RumStory and provided with lovely food and beverages as part of our package . This is a great place to hold meetings and a great venue to visit in Whitehaven town centre , highly recommended .

“Expensive average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013 via mobile

Food looked nice but really nothing to shout about. Staff a little ignorant to customers & quite slow to work. For the quality of the food it is a little overpriced, almost seems microwaved as the temperature of soup was just warm but main course was too hot to eat. Cakes very dry. Would only really go back if there was nowhere else to go but in Whitehaven there are plenty of cafe / coffee shop establishments offering nicer food at similar or better value!

What a little hidden gem this place is.....will be going back again. Staff very helpful and very knowledgeable, child and very doggy friendly. .....very interactive and so much to see and read . Well done on an excellent attraction that is not over priced. Lovely litle tot of jefferson rum at the end and left with our own full size bottle......very impressive

“Very interesting”

Had seen this advertised on the internet, and paid it a visit. Parking in Whitehaven is not brilliant but we were lucky and managed to park virtually outside it in a Disabled bay (hubby has Blue Badge). Got there as it opened and went in, the lady on the till was very helpful and gave us lots of advice about how to get round. You start your journey in Antigua and work your way through the story of the Jefferson family and their history in the Rum and Slave business. There are lots of things to see and it is all well laid out and well told. The story evolves on every floor and even gets to the Prohibition and Eliott Ness and the American's love of Rum. There is also a room where Rusty Lee is shown on the TV making recipes using Rum. Plenty of places to sit and rest while you going round, which is always helpful. A tot of Rum on the way out was very nice and warming, would not hesitate in recommending a visit to The Rum story if you are in Whitehaven
