Great location. Lovely and clean. Staff super friendly and very very helpful. Parking available. Food is delicious. Cute and comfortable and I would stay again! Room was clean and the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom spotless. No lift though so book your room with that in mind.

Been twice for family occasions found it very very clean and happy helpful staff good hot food and many choices near to some shops and roads to lake district excellent views was a bit pricey but worth itcertainly go again

Room Tip: if elderly like us there are stairs no lift so try and pick lower number basic but only only one and a half flights of stairs so if younger okay higher up hope this helps

Stayed here night before C2C. If arriving by train you need to stay on past Whitehaven. The train staff will stop 2 mins after Whitehaven at another station on request and from here it is 5 mins. IT is 5 minute max downhill roll to the start of the harbour start of the C2C

Slightly outside the main centre of Whitehaven but of what we saw of the town that's a selling point. Safe bike storage but no shelter so bikes exposed to the elements. Location means not many other options for food so we ate at the hotel. We stayed on a Thursday night so very quiet and were asked in advance what time we would want to eat. Fair to say the food isn't anything special and largely what you would knock up for yourself at home on a week day but good portions and good value. Breakfast was plentiful if a bit restricted. Rooms were clean, as was the linen. Service was nice and friendly but perhaps a little bit too casual. Felt like the onus was on us to request anything we needed rather than be asked but perhaps that is my personal preference, others may appreciate bot being badgered.

It all comes down to what you want from your stay...

Does it feel a bit dated, that perhaps its best days are behind it? That it is in need of some investment to pick up a bit? Yes i think that is fair to say, so if you are looking to treat yourself for a weekend away then you could be disappointed.

If you want a good value roof over your head where you can check in and not need worry till the next day, this provides everything you need and is worth every penny and more. I would tell everyone doing the C2C to stay here.

Room Tip: A cheaper price offered when said i was completing the Coast-to-Coast, but do not go for the dinner included. A better selection of food is provided from full menu and you'll need the bigger meals for the next day.

Stayed here night prior to c2c ride. Good price, welcome service, secure bike area storage and good food. Group of 6 so only expected a place just to get head down but pleasantly surprised at staff welcome and service. Even kindly returned my phone charger in post on leaving it there.

Loved staying here. Treated very well by the staff in particular Alan who went out of his way to provide me with a packed lunch as I was leaving very early, much before breakfast, on the day of departure which was enjoyed immensely on my long journey home. Room was excellent with a very comfortable bed, immaculate bathroom and superb shower and at £55 inc breakfast was brilliant value for money. I've stayed in far worse places for twice that price. Thanks Alan and co, I'll be back!

Room Tip: I stayed in a single room, number 33, which was at the front of the hotel. Very little outside noise so I'd say if you're a single traveller go for that one although such was the general standard of the hotel I'd expect all other rooms would be ok also.
