We arrived after long journey from Toronto, via London to find a modern, clean and very comfortable room. The furniture in our room was pine including flat screen tv. The bathroom was large & very modern. The owner Stephanie was very friendly and helpful. The first night we ate dinner downstairs which was convenient. The food is excellent. The hotel is on a quiet side street on the edge of the city centre, close to the harbour and markets. The hotel staff were all friendly.

Stayed Sat 1st Dec 2007 with my elderly mother. I booked the hotel based solely on the good reviews at Trip Advisor. I had every confidence that the positive reviews here would prove to be an honest account of the hotel and that I wouldn't be disappointed. I wasn't!

My original booking was for one single room and for one double, both with sole occupancy. However, upon arrival we were both upgraded to superior rooms, both doubles. The lady who greeted us, who I presume was the owner of the hotel, was very helpful and friendly.

As for the rooms themselves, well we were extremely impressed! Both rooms were very spacious, tastefully decorated and comfy, with a few little added extras that made our stay so special, such as a bathrobe, a fruit bowl, a jar of sweets, Tea & Coffee making facilities, Mineral water, DVD player and Plasma TV, branded toiletries in the bathroom, and last and not least... a big fluffy teddy bear sitting on the bed! TV reception was excellent too with a full range of digital stations, courtesy of Freeview. Although both rooms didn't have much of an outlook, the hotel is situated up a side street overlooking the rear of a retail store, Wilkinson's to be precise. This in turn meant that there was very little noise from outside, which guaranteed a good nights sleep.

Breakfast was excellent, with freshly squeezed orange juice, a delicious fruit salad, a choice of brown or white toast with branded jams and of course a full english breakfast, all served to the table and cooked to order and made with top quality ingredients.

To summarise, this small hotel is certainly one of the best I have had the good fortune to stay in, especially when you take into account the reasonable tariff, extremely friendly service and quality of rooms and food. This hotel is a little gem! Mum loved it too.

Needed a last minute hotel in and was not disappointed by my choice. Perfect for a woman alone. Owners are friendly and superb chefs. Bedroom had everything you could possibly need - from wall mounted TV, DVD player, bathrobe and slippers, very comfy bed, cotton wool balls, toiletries, iron and board, even a footspa, bedside clock/alarm/radio. - coffee/tea/biscuits/mineral water, even an individual filter coffee! Property is in the process of expansion/renovation to increase no of rooms and provide a separate reception. Decor may not be to everyone's taste, but this is being upgraded. Dinner was superb, freshly cooked and generous portions. In the centre of town with no outlook but the sound of the seagulls coupled with the fresh sea air more than made up for this. Great to arrive and find fresh air in the room - a window open (all windows opened which makes a change) - heating controls worked as well. I appreciated being able to use the room after checking out to change back into my travelling clothes. Would definitely stay here again. Room cost £69 (large double bed) and dinner with wine about £27 - restaurant was recommended by every local I spoke to. The welcome and help given during my stay was fantastic. Would recommend this hotel for business travellers and visitors alike.
