“A fantastic place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

Would definitely recommend this place to anyone! We stayed for three nights in the B and B with out 1 year old and 3 year old. We slept in the family room and the children slept in a separate room next door to ours. Although the bathroom was across the corridor it didn't matter at all and the bathroom itself was spacious with a fantastic shower and massive bath. As said on other reviews Janet and John are fantastic hosts and couldn't do more for us. Including lending us glasses and plates so we could have a bite to eat in the evening the lounge while the children were asleep upstairs. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well equipped. The breakfasts were delicious and set us up for our days out! Next time we would like to try out one of the cottages or maybe a spot of camping there.

We found John and Janet very welcoming and helpful. We camped for two days on their lovely new camp site with was clean and tidy. We camped near by an electrics and water point which came in very handy! The shower and toilet facilities were second to none, always clean and one of the nicest showers ive had. Will be returning and recommending it to friends.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it is one of the best places we have stayed. From the moment we were greeted by Merlin the dog, we were made to feel very welcome. Janet and John are both very friendly, without being intrusive. The room was very cosy, with nice touches such as homemade biscuits, dressing gowns, and a good selection of drinks in the room. The breakfast choice was excellent, with a good choice of cereals, fruit juices and main courses. Everything was cooked to order, which meant it was piping hot. The breakfast room overlooks the garden, so you can enjoy watching a variety of birds, including the resident woodpecker. We were very lucky with the weather, and did 3 wonderful days walking, and had the comfortable B&B to look forward to at the end of a long walk. We look forward to returning!

I stayed here for one night whilst doing business in Aspatria and couldn't fault anything. The room was really large, well appointed and had what looked like a brand new bathroom. A couple of packets of hand made cookies were in the room along with all the usual things which was a nice touch. The breakfast was superb, so good that I took a photo and showed it to my colleagues who were staying elsewhere ! Only thing to note is that the post code took me to a cottage nearby that shares the same code, if I hadn't arrived so late I would have seen the entrance though as it is well signposted..... That will teach me for relying on the SatNav ! I'll definitely stay here next time I'm in the area.

This bed and breakfast is truly fantastic. Beautiful scenery with a great variety of accomodation - camping, glamping (log cabin camping), B&B rooms and gorgeous, homely, individual cottages. Very near the picturesque town of Caldbeck.

I decided to go glamping with 2 friends and it's hard to want to go back to normal camping! The cabins were incredibly cosy with gorgeous scenery, 2 double sofa beds, your own kitchen area in the corner, tv with a selection of DVDs, dining room table and chairs and storage space. A very friendly family works there who will help you any way they can. I would absolutely recommend it o anyone!!

This is a beautiful site offering peace and quiet (excepting the birds and animals) and spectacular scenery, just what we wanted. The pitches are very gently sloping and come with EHU (if needed) and individual water tap, saving the need to go for a walk to fill the kettle. Two toilets and two (incredibly powerful) showers at the bottom of the field, which were kept immaculately during our stay.

No other facilities in the immediate location, although shops a couple of miles away in Wigton (including Lidl) with bigger supermarkets in Carlisle, approximately 20 minutes away. We found a cracking butcher in Cockermouth, which was a lovely little town, without the hustle and bustle the main Lake District has. That said, Keswick is about half hour away so if that's what you want this would make a perfect base.

We were lucky with the weather and spent a lot of time on site, simply relaxing and enjoying the countryside. The owners have clearly spent a lot of time and trouble making their site just so, in fact the only possible snag I found was the mirror above the sink could have done with being a couple of inches higher (for shaving). Given the incredible value for money I can certainly live with that.

We spoke with a lady who was staying in the cottage and she had nothing but praise to give. Additionally, a couple of cabins are almost ready at the top of the field, offering a slightly upmarket experience to our tent. They have a wood burner and are superbly appointed.

Great friendly owners with plenty of interesting information about the surrounding area and what to do, should inspiration be needed. There were a few younger kiddies staying whilst we were there and all seemed to be well occupied with nature.

If you want away from it all then I suspect this is as good as it gets. Wonderful site with all Cumbria has to offer on the doorstep.

There are simply not enough superlatives to recommend this as a location, no- a DESTINATION in itself. We stayed just one night (so not enough!!) in April of 2011 (yeah yeah I'm a late reviewer!) in a heavenly room in the main house on the top floor with en suite bath and never wanted to leave. Owners made us feel like family and as it is a working farm, the opportunity to be close to a lovely, friendly horse and hold/bottle feed a wee orphaned lamb were memories I will never forget! Food was delish, everything was ever so clean and I took about a thousand pics. Do not hesitate to book this property- you will not regret it! (no pool or fitness center btw- but accidently checked those as rated excellent- great areas for a run or a ramble tho!)

Room Tip: Don't think you can go wrong with any choice. Even rooms without an ensuite in the main house ha...
