Frosty reception on arrival; you were made to feel like they were doing you a favour allowing you to eat there! No appreciation or gratitude from the staff for your business, depsite these difficult economic times. Service was slow and unattentive, and not even so much of a thanks or a goodbye from the front of house on our departure.
Menu was extremely limited and very expensive. Range of food was restricted: it appears this place is trying to be something it is not. Forget the pretentious menu and totally unecessary "canapes on reception" - how about getting back to good quality, traditional rustic fare?!!
Poor selection of drinks - the only beer on tap was Boddingtons - the local Jennings was unavailable.
Surprisingly busy at the time, however it was December; and the New Inn appears to be patronised by locals who are perhaps creatures of habit and obviously don't know any better!
We visited as a group of local people, however as we were "unknown", we felt like we were being treated like outsiders, which is appalling! God knows how people from outside the area are treated, and what they go away thinking!!
Will not be going back!
