“Ok but looking a little tired”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

We stayed here as part during our Hadrians wall cycle. The hotel is friendly and clean but looking quite tired. The dinner was ok, a little bit 80s inspired with old school prawn cocktails but tasty none the less. A fair selection of beers but nothing special on the wine front. Rooms were nice but showers were not amazing. Landlords manners leave a lot to be desired with respect to treatment of staff in front of customers! All on all absolutely fine to get your head down but wouldn't be my first choice.

Late decision to stay on the way back home after two days tough golf ( recommend a visit to Silioth Golf Course challenging but superb course ). The Hotel appeared a little dated, but the warmth of the welcome and continued service was most appreciated - even loaned a pair of readers to help me study the Menu. Room was ideal with pleasant views across fields at the rear of the premises. The food was very good - confirmed by the number of non residents eating ! The Hotel also had good family facilities with a Children's play area to the front. Excellent value for money.

The decor is shabby and the food was average at best.
The carpets, decoration, tables, crockery and cutlery etc were as old as Carlisle castle. Staff were ok, bit clumsy.
Ordered off the Sunday lunch menu. Can tell that they trying to compete with the white heather (but failing miserably) food quality, quantity and value for money are a long way off the WH.
Starters ok (garlic mushrooms and melon).
Meat average and small portions. The veg came all together on the same tray which ended in a mash and cauliflower cheese ensemble, and carrots and cabbage together. I don't want my mash with bits of cauliflower in. And I don't want carrots that taste of cabbage. Mash had no butter in it. And the portion of the veg was ww2 rationed.
All in all pretty poor. Won't be back!

Every individual is entitled to there're personal opinion, although it's slightly upsetting that you have to compare different food venues with each other.every establishment is different in their own little way wether it's the food the decor the cutlery ,we have all ages and characters of people coming to wheyrigg hall who enjoy the Sunday lunch we have to offer ,I will be taking all our other reviews into account and consider if we really have an issue with the way we run things.

Thank you

Just back from staying here. Room 10 was a family room that was spotlessly clean. Full family bathroom 2 bedroom and bed in living room. Meals were very reasonably priced and extremely delicious all home màde. Little bar area was very welcoming and nice to relax at.

Camping facilities were also of a very high standard.

Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

Love this hotel, quirky rooms, great value for money, fabulous breakfast, only niggle is the internet but it is cumbria! It's quite an isolated location but I like that, the food is lovely, the homemade chips are lush!

Wheyrigg Hall Hotel easy to find just off the B5302 North of Wigton, fast road so the Hotel driveway comes up on you quickly. We stayed one night in early Oct and found the staff friendly. Found our way to a little bar area where the reception is, room three was a large double with shower over bath just in case you want to steep your bits, comfortable bed, room was warm & clean. Food in the restaurant is served quickly, home cut chips brilliant, ample portions, try the steak, followed by eve's pudding, proper comfort food, other tastes are catered for, salads and the like but we didn't experience them, good hearty breakfast cooked to order. All in, a Hotel that ticked the boxes for us, .

Room Tip: room three was ok for us
