“Very comfortable bed!”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

We pulled in here just for one night after driving a full day. The staff were friendly and managed to accommodate our needs quite well. Our rooms were fairly spacious and the beds were very very comfortable. We had a lovely surprise in the morning when we went to settle our bill and they managed to discount our room without us asking. Very nice, the hallways were very confusing and the food in the restaurant was average.

On arrival we were presented with a dull and dated looking building, which admittedly did not fill us with confidence. However on entering the establishment we were greeted by a very pleasant concierge who was very helpful indeed, telling us of all the great facilities the hotel had to offer including, gym, pool and restaurant. The restaurant was somewhere we were both keen to visit after our long car journey and we were not disappointed. Excellent service with personal touches with the host greeting us by name made us feel relaxed and welcomed, not forgetting of course the great food. The room although was a little dated in decor was clean and comfortable and we both had an excellent nights sleep. Keep up the good work.

I stayed for one night last week at the hotel as I was on a 2 day course.
I managed to get a parking place at the front of the hotel and everything in my opinion was excellent.
The staff were attentive, smart, polite, helpful, clean and keen.
The room was nice, the food was excellent.
The pool was nice, sauna and steam rooms were fine.
It's a nice place.

I spent one night in this hotel, and really liked it. The staff were exceptionally friendly (thanks, Emma and Stuart!), and the facilities were clean and comfortable. Everything worked right first time - no worries about weird showers, TVs, etc. I was sorry to be able to eat only one (very good) breakfast, as the choice looked very good indeed and I would have tried a much wider range of dishes had I been staying longer. Bar and restaurant service was exemplary. To be honest, Workington itself doesn't yield up its charms easily, but this hotel more than made up for that, and if travel/tourism is one's goal then the town has excellent transport connections. I found this hotel by chance, as I had to overnight unexpectedly, but I would be more than happy to stay there again should the circumstances arise.

Stayed here for two nights on a groupon deal! Sold as a base for a Lake District visit.
Short drive into the Lake District so location was really good.
Staff very friendly, rooms were basic but what expected!
Workington itself is a tired town with nothing to do and very little places to eat at evening.
Nice breakfast in the hotel :-)
Bargain hotel costing much less than hotels within the Lake District area!

I had to stay in this hotel recently and found it to be very clean and welcoming. The staff were very good and nothing was too much trouble. The only slight disappointment was breakfast as the choice was limited and it was a bit bland. The bed though was amazingly comfortable.

Went here using one of the deal sites, two nights B&B. The area appears a little rough but it is right next to the shops and there are plenty of places to eat around town. It is also a good central place for trips in the car although parking is not nearly enough.
On arrival the guy at reception was efficient and inside is nothing like the exterior. The hotel is a little dated but the rooms are comfortable and quiet and had everything that you could need. We also had free Wifi and free use of the swimming pool and leisure facilities.
We ate int he restaurant the second night and the food was lovely with very big portions. Drinks were reasonable and the bar area was comfortable to sit in.
Breakfast, although there was plenty on the menu, in reality was a little misleading. It is all described beautifully but in reality it was a bit plain. To give them credit, they did make perfect poached eggs though.
The staff were pleasant and helpful and we had a really nice stay. I dont know if I think it is worth the full price though?

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room as the ones at the front are on the main street.
