Situated in the tiny hamlet of Dean The Royal Yew is a great wee local and well worth a visit if you're in the area. It's an attractive building fronted by a Yew that opens out into a multi-roomed pub. The bar is small and it's clear that the focus is on food, but there are a number of good beers and the bar staff are friendly and efficient. The prices are reasonable by Cumbrian standards and the food, whilst leaning towards standard pub fayre, is very well done. The steaks are excellent, cooked to order and very tasty, the Chicken pie was rammed full of poultry and the chips were excellent! No complaints from 4 starters and 4 mains and the friendliness of the staff provides yet another reason to give this excellent boozer a visit!
