Think these reviews must be made up! We stayed at the hotel with our 7 month old and 5 year old, we booked through groupon. Upon leaving the hotel we advised the chambermaids who were cleaning the rooms that our 5 year old had an accident in the single bed ( he never usually does this, and it was a very small one ) and apologised. The manager sent us an email the next day advising that they would send us a cheque for £79 instead of the £129 as £50 would be for cleaning the bed! we were told that we would have our card refunded when we booked for the groupon voucher, when we rang up to speak to the manager ( after leaving a message the previous day and was told he would ring back the same day) he was extremely rude and didnt seem to care or want to listen and said a cheque had been sent and put the phone down 3 times! very unfair treatment, manager very arrogant, Food was awful and very expensive, sat us away from other guests at mealtimes , bar area/hotel in general had no atmosphere! hotel was in the middle of nowhere and the views were nothing like that on the picture!! Would advise to find a different hotel!

We stayed at Hunday Manor with family and friends for the weekend as my daughter was baptised in a nearby church and we were accommodated and had our meal here. Every member of the staff provided top class service - nothing was too much trouble, their attention to detail is superb! Some of our party were arriving on the day of the Baptism and were given their rooms 3hrs before check-in time, so that they could get ready! The food is fantastic, the location is perfect, the hotel is spotless - I just love this place! I had my wedding reception here in 2004 and had accommodation and a gathering when my first daughter was baptised in 2007, the only negative point is that I can't think of another excuse to have another family gathering here soon! I'm sure we'll come up with something! We'll be back!!! XXxx

Stayed here on an overnight business trip. Lovely!!! Welcoming feel as soon as you enter the hotel, very well presented rooms. Unforunately arrived too late for dinner, but menu looked very nice - excellent breakfast. Free wi-fi for guests also.
Will certainly stay here again.

Searched for hours for a place to stay en route to family wedding at Gretna. All places closer to lakes were extortionately priced, found this place on Laterooms so checked reviews On Tripadvisor as thought it looked too good to be true - reviews simply backed up the images. Booked through Lastminute as cheaper. Easy to find, greeted by v friendly man on Reception, lovely cosy room bed soooo comfy! Ate in restaurant first night and it was delicious. Breakfast too was lovely so much choice! Second night tonight and thought I'd post this whilst still here as so impressed with this beautiful hotel!!!

As you enter the driveway gravel car park you tend to think you are entering the wrong place considering the price paid! Lovely old country manor house -like something from a period drama. Little extras like bottled water, biscuits etc in the room which was very comfy, classy and overlooking the countryside. Very friendly staff, lovely breakfast and as already mentioned great value for money which bumps it up to a five star for me. A few miles from Workington which now has cinemas, restaurants, shopping mals etc.
