Stayed for two nights on a travelzoo voucher. Room was small but they made good use of the space. Very clean and comfortable.Very welcoming staff, made you feel at home from arrival until departure. Good location for exploring north lakes and Cockermouth is well worth a visit. The area is not as busy or commercialised as Windermere area. Breakfast menu had a good choice to suit all tastes. Ate in the restaurant second night - you can choose from the dinner menu or the bar menu, meal very good. We would consider returning.

Spent a three night mid week stay on B and B basis on a Travelzoo deal. This included a 20% discount on food and drink on first night. However, to qualify you were required to have three courses and, as nice as it was, it was too much for us oldies. Breakfast was excellent, great choices hot and cold. Service was good and friendly. Our room (11) was relatively small overlooking the side car parking area with not much natural light, but was quite well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities, a trouser press, cd/radio, iron and ironing board, Tv , free Wifi, and a modern en suite with walk in shower.
Plenty of outside seating around the nicely kept gardens to sit and have a drink and watch the sunset. The Hotel also a large car parking area.
All in all a pleasant stay and if visiting the western lakes would probably stay again.

We had a 2 night stay, 12 and 13 July, on a Travel Zoo voucher. Hotel is very pleasant, lots of comfortable seating in the lounge and bar areas. Food is delicious. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was ideal for our stay, with tea making facilities, iron, trouser press, TV and CD player and free wifi. Excellent power shower. Grounds are very pretty. All in all it was a great stay and look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: If you are staying over the weekend I would try to avoid a room near the function room if you want an early night.

We stayed here on a travelzoo offer and were pleasantly surprised.
Our room(20) was clean, comfortable and quiet overlooking the back of the hotel, gardens and distant hills. Note no lift to rooms.
The food (we had two evening meals) was very good, and service relaxed and friendly. Breakfast menu extensive and freshly cooked.
The hotel was in easy reach of the Lakes (20 minutes by car to Keswick)
The mirror light in our bathroom needed mending and the iron function of the trouser press wasn't working. (both reported)

Room Tip: Front rooms would have a great view.

The room was clean and well furnished, on suite with a large shower cubicle, bit of a side view from the window. Ate in the restaurant on both nights, great meals, good menu and prices about what you would expect to pay in a restaurant.Full English Breakfast was really good as it should be, with black pudding too. Near by is Maryport, with a Roman fort plus excavations at the right time, lakes not to far away. and White haven worth looking at, bit of a marina there on the sea front with an interesting mine looking like a castle on the coast walk. We stopped there 2 nights on a trip advisor voucher.

Room Tip: Room with a view would be good, nice views to the front.
