“WOW - What a Fantastic February break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

We visited Sandybrook Park in February this year for half term, booking a 3 bedroom lodge with a hot tub and we were not disappointed. (2 adults and 3 children 16, 16 and 13)

From the initial reservation to arrival on the day everything was well organised and efficient. Upon arrival, even though we were early they took our number and we were contacted not long after so able to get into our lodge earlier than expected.

It was like home from home! A really well laid out lodge with high quality furnishings, furniture and kit. It was very well stocked with everything you need, including dishwasher tablets which are so often left out, fluffy towels and quality bed linen.

The children were in the hot tub before we had unpacked the car and spent most of the week in there whenever we were on site so it was well worth the extra money.

The onsite facilities were great and we also made use of the pool and sauna. The only down side was the restaurant being closed for refurbishment that week so we were unable to try it out, so unable to comment on quality.

A great base to explore the local countryside including a full day walk round Carssington Water, Dovedale and a day in Ashbourne.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting a local get away or a week away to visit the beautiful Derbyshire countryside.

Room Tip: Hut tub worth every penny. 3 bedroom lodges plenty of space for 5 of us. Could easily sleep 6 adul...

Myself, my husband & our 5 month old baby spent 3 nights here the week before Christmas. We had a really relaxing & very enjoyable time. The lodge was clean & of a very good size. It was very well heated (it was a cool Decembe weekend) & readily stocked with cleaning products for washing up & keeping the place clean. The restaurant/bar on site is also worth a visit. Very quiet when we went but the staff were welcoming and we had a nice meal. Also used the pool infact we had it all to ourselves for an hour. Very nice, changing rooms very clean. On leaving our lodge we called in at reception to drop off our keys and we were given a gift pack of peppermints for our journey home - a nice touch we thought. We will probably book for the same time this year. Looking forward to going back. Highly recommend.

Spent one week here at the beginning of August and had a fantastic, relaxing holiday. Booked a lodge with a hot tub which was great.
Only thing I would mention is the busy road leading to the park used by lots of lorries. There was no noise from it but didn't feel safe walking into Ashbourne along it.
This didn't spoil the holiday and wouldn't hesitate to return.

The holiday park was very close to Ashbourne town and on arrival the park was very well presented. The reception staff on check in were lovely and helpful. The lodge we stayed was well presented and had everything you needed for a self catering holiday. Bath towels and tea towels as well as a dishcloth and fairy liquid were provided. There was toilet roll and dishwasher tablets to start you off but then you obviously had to provident our own for the rest of the week. Our lodge had all the home comforts you needed including a TV, DVD player and CD player. The electricity and wii if was free too! We had a hot tub in our log cabin which was fab and clean and it was checked 3 times a day. Also some lodges allowed dogs to stay too.
If you do not mind driving and have a sat nav there are some lovely places to explore in the Peak District. I would recommend this park if you want a quiet relaxing holiday and would love to rerun one day.

Room Tip: Choose one with a hot tub you may pay more but it is well worth it.

Have stayed with my family at this site a few times now and never been disappointed. It is a lovely park and the pool temperature is perfect. The games room is good fun but could do with some TLC; the pool table felt was ripped, one of the light bulbs above it was flickering and another out. The table tennis is great but as it is so popular it would be great if another table could be fit in. The coach house looks very smart. The woodland walk is small but nice. It mentions in the literature that you can get a midweek change of towels if staying for a week so for a family of four that would equate to 2 hand towels and 4 bath towels so I would take separate ones for swimming. The play park and field are great. Table and chairs on the veranda means eating out, listening to and watching the birds. Whilst a lot of areas are screened with trees and shrubs from others, the lodge that we stayed in, number 20, had a view of the lodge below and to the right which I found impersonal however the screening to the right of the lodge makes the double bed room very dark during the daytime.

Ashbourne is a lovely market town with great amenities such as Sainsburys, Ashbourne Fish and Chip Shop, Gingerbread shop for great bread and interesting mix of other shops to browse. Our only regret is that we didn't realise that there was an M & S Simply Food until the day we left, in a retail unit towards the A50.

The reason why we decided to come back to this site is because we know we are guaranteed a good time and even though we have visited before it is nice to revisit special places like Dovedale and Tissington and explore new places. The fact that it borders other counties means that you are close to visit places there. We would highly recommend Nottingham for a visit, parking at East Midlands Parkway, next to the impressive Ratcliffe Power Station. Parking and a group day return by train was a very reasonable £8 and takes approximately 10 minutes by train.

It was a sad day when we left to come home as we had a great time and cannot recommend it highly enough. Who knows, we may return in the future!

We spent a long weekend here with family. Separate lodges. A small lodge park so not far to walk to other lodges. All very smart with all the amenities you could possibly need. Comfortable beds and very clean. On site there is a swimming pool which shuts around 7.30pm. Small but nice and clean. It has a sauna and hot tub for use by guests. We had a lodge with a hot tub. Very nice and checked regularly. There is no shop on site but Ashbourne is on the door step. You have the main road just next to the site but it did not disturb us. There is a Bar and Restaurant on site. Ok for a meal instead of cooking but not particularly special. There is a games room above the bar but it shuts at 9pm. Would definitely recommend it as a spot to explore the Peak District nice and relaxing to returnto after a busy day out. No evening entertainment.

Room Tip: Lodge 64 slept 4 and was more away from the main road. Up the hill but nice and quiet.

Sandybrook was an easy distance away from Ashbourne with lots to do in the local area. We recommend; Bakewell town, the Denby visitor centre and walking in Dovedale. We had a spa bath and sauna which we used at least once everyday. Everything necessary to keep the lodge clean and tidy was provided. The site staff were very helpful. The crazy golf was small but very good fun and good value for money. The holiday was brilliant!
