“Good food and nice gardens”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We had a great lunch. We had actually booked elsewhere but that was closed so we turned up with no reservations but were welcomed in.

All four of us had food we enjoyed and we started with a sharing plate of bread and olives which went down well

The prices were reasonable and the service efficient and friendly. If the weather is good there is a nice garden you can sit in.

They do functions in a separate room to one side with separate kitchens too. You can also stay here as they have rooms but I have no experience of that.

“Fab meal after alton towers”
Reviewed 21 May 2014 via mobile

On our way home to Leeds after alton towers, we came across this pub. there were 10 of us and the lady was more than happy to accommodate for us. A lovely table was laid out for us with jugs of water which were constantly topped up. When the food arrived it was beautifully presented and hot. Everyone enjoyed their meals and dessert was just as good! The waitress was really lovely and happy to meet our fussy needs! Thank you very much!

“Wide menu, amazing value, friendly service”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Two of us turned up on a quiet Tuesday evening in May, and we were welcomed and by a pleasant but not over-fussy member of the bar staff, who asked what kind of wine we liked before making a recommendation. We were offered a table in the bar or in the restaurant, and opted for the latter. The menu was excellent- and the prices (all mains were £10.50) were amazing. I had chicken and my partner had salmon en croute; both were excellent, with interesting sauces and very decent wine. For dessert I had the chef's creme brulee- this was perfect, well up to French restaurant standard, and chef (who came out for a chat and to see that we were happy with everything) was happy to serve the melon-pineapple-papaya starter as a dessert for my partner. The whole bill was about £60- fantastic value for a restaurant-quality meal with drinks. We shall be back.

“EARLY BIRD”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Apparently recently refurbished/redecorated interior with comfortable separate bar and dining areas.
We enjoyed good quality produce, expertly cooked, pleasantly served and reasonably priced (2 course early bird offer available).
Overheard discussion at adjoining table indicated chef happy to accommodate special requirements/adjustments.
Recommended.

“Highly recommended”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

We booked a three night break recently after finding the hotel website on the internet. Our ensuite room was spotless, comfortable and attractively decorated. We dined in the restaurant each evening and were very impressed by the variety of dishes available. The meals (including breakfast) were delicious - of a consistently high standard and beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Royal Oak Hotel.
