Stayed in Winn Cottage with my parents, husband and 3 children. We were all totally impressed with the standard of the property, its cleanliness and its contents. The outdoor area was perfect for outdoor eating and grabbing some sunshine. We had our 2 dogs and 2 horses with us too. The livery facilities were amazing and it was great to look out of the cottage and see them happily grazing when we weren't riding. The hacks are brilliant with plenty of choices of where to go. Vikki, Tim and staff were very accommodating and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The pool was a definate bonus and our 5 year old aimed for 2 long sessions a day!! Being able to put on our music and chill out in the pool area was much appreciated too. Based in a totally beautiful area with loads to do everyone was happy - mission accomplished!
I have recommended to all our friends and have got a lot of people thinking about taking their horses/ponies away.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Three ladies, dogs and 2 horses stayed for a week in Winn cottage and had a wonderful week. The stables for the horses were excellent, plenty of bedding and hay with outside grazing, they settled quickly. The cottage was well equipped, clean and cosy with a pretty enclosed garden which was lovely for the dogs and great to sit out in the evening. The icing on the cake was the new pool which was great after a long day riding and exploring. Vicki was so helpful, nothing was any trouble and everyone on the yard were friendly. Lovely countryside to explore riding or dog walking, we would certainly recommend a stay here.

“Fabulous location, great comfort, friendly hosts, brilliant pool, all mod cons”

We stayed in Winn Cottage - 4 adults and 4 children (ages 9, 10 and 11) and had a thoroughly enjoable week. The setting, in the beautiful rolling Derbyshire hills, is superb, and is located close to Carsington Water, where there's a whole range of activities for all the family (we thoroughly recommend the Sailing Centre, and the Severn Trent Info Centre which managed to make water processing fascinating for kids!!) . Used the pool extensively - it's the perfect size for 'playing' as well as serious swimming, and it was a boon for cooling down on very hot days, and something to keep us busy when it poured down. Lovely outside area to BBQ, eat, & generally sit around with a long drink, and the cottage interior is really well done and beautifully clean. Very comfy beds. Tim and Vikki are polite, friendly and helpful hosts - attentive but not 'in your face'.
Only downside was that the cottage is a bit of a squeeze for 8, especially with 4 active kids, which is the only reason for 4 stars. We were out most of the time but when we all had to be there (meals etc) it could get a bit crowded. The kids say the pool was 'awsome' but they would have loved a games room with e.g. table tennis, tabletop football, dart board etc - there's one at the cottage we've previously stayed at in Yorkshire, otherwise it probably wouldn't occur to them. All in all a great place to stay - thank you Tim and Vikki.

“We didn't want to go home and neither did our horses.”
Reviewed 26 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

A wonderful oasis of beauty and tranquility that allowed us to indulge our passion for horse riding, we brought 2 horses with us on our break and they settled immediately, cared for by the friendly stablehands who were very helpful. We rode around Carsington lake and the tissington trail, also making use of the farm ride.Dumble cottage was fabulous along with the views from the patio,Tim and Vikki were great hosts and were incredibly friendly, everything was perfect and we look forward to returning for more Pimms at the paddocks ( see facebook/ twitter ).Would recommend in a heartbeat to anyone thinking of taking their horses.

“Another fantastic holiday at Netherton Hall”
Reviewed 26 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Returned with my husband and two children to Netherton Hall for a week. The cottage was ' home from home ' and spotlessly clean. Equipped to a very high standard. Tim and Vikki exceptional hosts, always on hand to provide any help and useful information about the local area.
An ideal place to relax especially with the fantastic swimming pool. The area has a vast variety of things to do from sailing, to Alton Towers. Another excellent holiday, sorry to leave.

“Surely no - one could want anything more”

We are experts in staying in self catering rural holiday cottages and it is not coincidental that we have stayed at Netherton Hall 3 times and each time it gets better and better.
We arrive on Friday Evening and know that we will be met with a warm welcome from Tim & Vikki and can walk straight into the spotlessly clean Haven Cottage. Even the anticipation of arriving means that we have already unwound from the day to day stresses of normal life!
After that (and maybe a quick local pint) the next thought on everyone's mind is a swim in the pool. Now the pool is legendary because its like swimming in the Derbyshire countryside with its huge windows And .... Get this you can plug in your iPod or iPhone and listen to your own music through the PA while you swim and programme the wall wash lighting to change. Derbyshire countryside on one side - your own light show down the other of a 15m long pool - huge!!! Don't worry about the teccy bits Tim will show you how to go on. A nice slice of toast with jam and a glass of wine for supper from the welcome pack rounds off the evening nicely - and you've only been there for a couple of hours.

Now this part of the country is filled with all sorts of things to do - you could fill a couple of days venturing no further than a radius of 10 miles - Loads to do at Carsington Water which is but a stone's throw away. You won't find a better place ideally located for Alton Towers (not my cup of tea but the kids seem to like it!!!)
If you need to know anything about the locality just ask Tim or Vikki - they take the bit about you enjoying your holiday seriously.

In fact I cannot believe anyone couldn't thoroughly enjoy a holiday at Netherton at any time of the year - it honestly is the perfect antidote to the hectic lives we all live these days.
