I came to this hotel with my girlfriend and sister in the evening on the 6th may (bank holiday Monday) and ate in the restaurant. We stopped here by chance after seeing a sign stating they were "now serving food". I was a bit worried at first because we were the only people their, never a good sign! but as the night went on my doubts were more than proved wrong, we received a very warm welcome and were showed through to the bar and served drinks. we were given menus and placed our order. after 10-15 minutes the manager took our drinks and escorted us through to the restaurant and brought us some complimentary bread and butter, I was the only one having a starter and this was served minutes later, it was delicious! slow cooked chicken with pink peppercorns and pistachios, served with toast and a herb salad very tasty. As for the mains, me and my sister had braised pork belly with peas and pancetta, croquette potatoes, and baby carrots it was stunning! the pork belly melted in your mouth and had loads of flavour. my girlfriend had the steak with a warm shallot and potato salad with herb butter which she thoroughly enjoyed. we ordered three desserts to share and loved all of them, we had the chefs take on trifle, a pistachio sponge with cherries and fresh cream, a chocolate mousse with different types of orange and a "Tonka bean" panna cotta with rhubarb and ice cream, we'd not heard of Tonka beans before but it was an amazing flavour! id love to know where to get them from!! overall for a restaurant that had only been open 3 days it felt very smooth and we were made to feel very welcome almost like well known friends as opposed to customers, and although on our own we never felt uncomfortable. I will definitely be returning and recommending.

If you want to be right in the centre of town, this is the place to stay. It has a small car park but we managed to park o.k. The rooms are fitting to the hotel, which was built around the early 1900's to service the train station. We stayed in a four poster bedroom. The rooms are of an old fashioned style with old style furniture and fittings so if you want modern, I wouldnt recommend it, although the bathroom appeared to be recently refurbished. Breakfast was included in the price and was a really good freshly prepared with all the trimmings of a full breakfast. One of the best breakfasts I have had for a while in a hotel. We didnt eat in the hotel, but the restaurant looked really nice and the food selection appertising. Friendly greeting and helpful personnel.

The Station was a great choice for our bank holiday weekend in the Peak District. Rooms are large and comfortable with all amenities. It has off road parking, staff are friendly, breakfast is very good and the price is reasonable. But one thing that stands out is the quality of the evening meal. We ate their on the Friday evening which was the chef's first night and the quality of the food was exceptional, this could easily become a real foodie destination. The choice of wine was limited but I'm sure that will be corrected.

Thank you for writing a review. We are delighted that your bank holiday stay at the Station Hotel was was enjoyable. We are also delighted that you enjoyed your dining experience in what was as you rightly say the first weekend of our newly opened restaurant. Our new head chef James Cornbill only uses locally produced meat and produce and has a wonderful way of putting tastes and flavours together. We do hope that you will visit us again in the future should you visit Ashbourne.

The owner was very helpful. Ideally placed for the town. The room we had was a nice size and the bed was clean & comfy. However, the place needs updating. The en-suite had a shower over the bath but was operated by the taps, and the windows were running with condensation when we woke the next morning. They serve a good breakfast which was a plus.

Thank you for writing a review. Yes it was bitterly cold for your stay and due to the historic nature of the building, this seemed to have, unusually, condensation on your windows. This is caused by the centrally heated bedroom warmth hitting the cold windows! However, we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again in the future, when the Station Hotel will have opened its own restaurant to give a wonderful dining experience for Ashbourne.

Four couples used this as a base for day trips around the peaks over Easter. Easy to find and well located with the town centre being only a five minute walk.

Our bedroom was clean and tidy, nicely appointed. Bathroom was clean and tidy although some updating wouldn't go amiss. WIFI didn't reach our room which could be fixed with a bridging unit, but worked well downstairs.

The hosts were excellent, pre dinner drinks were always taken in the bar before moving onto restaurants in Ashbourne.

Breakfast was also excellent and our requests for particular items were fulfilled.

Secure off street parking was appreciated as we were on motorbikes.

Would definitely use it again if in the area.

Thank you for writing a review. The Station Hotel is indeed very central to all the main tourist attractions in the Peak District. Luckily the weather was not too bad that weekend for travelling around on your motorbikes. We do hope that you will visit us again in the future and from the 1st May the Station Hotel is opening its own restaurant to give a wonderful dining experience for Ashbourne.

Lovely rooms and very friendly staff.
We have help ith restaurant recommendations which was very much appreciated.
The only small gripe was that the large room we booked advertises wine & hot tub, which we didn't get even after asking a few times.
Apparently this was because we were on a special offer. We were unaware of this, so the deal was not as advertised and good customer service would dictate giving what was advertised especially when asked for twice.
Nevertheless overall the service and the hotel was great.

Thank you for writing a review. We are sorry that there was some misunderstanding over your 3 night four poster room stay. We do heavily discount longer stays at the hotel and the hot tub was indeed included free with your stay and you were able to have booked it at any time as I believe I must have mentioned to you. However, we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel and pleased that the small disappointment did not affect this. We look forward to seeing you again in the future should you visit Ashbourne.

The hotel is easy to find and very central we arrived very early but as room was available we were allowed to check in. Four poster room was of good order, clean, lots of hot water, good quality towels and dressing gowns. We enjoyed the hot tub to!The owner was very welcoming and chatty gave us good recommendations on places to eat and drink smiths tavern for ale drinkers! Chinese lovely although a little dated inside, best place to eat is the bowling green inn at the top of the hill steep walk but worth it fantastic steaks. Breakfast was laid out with fruit, yogurt, cereal fruit juice all of very good quality and then you can order from menu for cooked breakfast we had full english which was ok. All in all great place to stay would definitely go back.

Room Tip: ask for a room not looking out onto the road as quite noisy from the lorry's going past.
