“Great B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 November 2013

We have recently returned from a two night stay at the Wheel House and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We were in the Bronte room which is a lovely large room with dual aspect, a comfortable double bed and a great shower in the good size en suite. Biscuits and sweets are provided as well as toiletries. For breakfast there is a choice of cereals or fresh fruit and then a wide choice of options. We both chose the full english breakfast and were not disappointed. The bacon and sausages which are both locally produced were absolutely delicious, so much so that we decided to take a detour home to call in at the butchers in Tissington to buy a supply to take home with us! Quite literally next door is the pub The Black Horse which is very olde worlde and serves good pub food at very reasonable prices. Unfortunately they don't serve draught guiness however a 10-15 minute walk down the road is The Nags Head which is a lot more modern and served a great pint of draught guiness. Unfortunately we could not dine though as it was a monday night when they don't serve food. The owners of The Wheel House Brian and Valerie are both extremely friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay there again.

Based on the reviews for this cosy little B&B, I booked a night in August 2013 for my wife and I as we had a wedding to attend nearby.
We stayed in the Kipling room, which has twin beds and a sizeable bathroom with shower (no bath).
Everything was clean and the owners were very welcoming. The breakfast was very nice indeed, with locally sourced ingredients and homemade jams etc.
I think that £70 is pretty good value for money for a night here.

Having spent 4 nights myself and spouse were well looked after. Breakfast's were cooked as per request and nothing was to much trouble for the owners who are very gracious and polite. We would certainly stay there again.

Stayed for 1 night in the Kipling room, it was a very pretty room with twin beds and a very large en suite bathroom. The owners were very welcoming, and fresh milk was brought up on our arrival. The room overlooks the road and at times road noise could be heard throughout the night. The room was spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed though unsure of how suitable the wardrobe would be for longer stays. The breakfast was fantastic and the choice available excellent, including many homemade items. A great little b&b.

I travel the British isles and some of Europe with work, so this is a fair and true review...

Location is superb, or it was for the JCB plant where we were VIPs for the day.
Room was superb and clean, great bathroom, (we were in bronte room) - right next to their bathroom, could hear everything
Great bed, and room was a great temperature
That particular room gets poor mobile signal, orange and 02, and poor Internet, 3G
Breakfast was very nice, a tad shy on portions on the hot stuff
Great home made jams and yogurts that said
Great couple run it, and will bend over backwards to help and advise if they can, and also leave you alone during breakfast
Nice pub next door,
Better to park car in the pub car park as thir drive is tight as cramp, if a few big cars and a big merc like me.
AA have given it a 4* as the rooms have plenty in them
smallest tv in the world, but it did the job

All in all, i can justify a 4 out of 5 but for me not a 5 out of 5,

Had an overnight break to plan at last minute. The Wheel house had the Dickens room available for us. A pleasant comfortable room with en suite and all requirements. Fresh milk stored in a themos flask to keep cool, was brought up on arrival. We had an evening meal in the pub next door and a very short walk back through the garden! Breakfast was excellent. Thank you

We stayed here for one night while attending a friends wedding. The owners were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we were happy - even offering to drive us to the wedding.

The rooms were spotless and comfortable, as was the bathroom. There were plenty of tea and coffee in the rooms, with chocolate biscuits and fresh milk. As well as bottled water.

Breakfast was amazing! All of it was locally sourced or home made. The home made yoghurt with the fresh fruit was lovely.

Overall cant fault at all and highly recommend.
