“Excellent town house with all you need”
Reviewed 15 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We stayed at Robert's Retreat during October. The town house is small but has everything you need. The owner had also provided tea/coffee and biscuits which were very welcome after a wet day outside! The house is in an excellent location close to shops/restaurants in Ashbourne and within easy driving distance of Dovedale, Tissington trail, Carsington reservoir etc.

The only 2 negative points are that it is quite noisy with traffic early in the morning as it is right on the main road. The other negative is the lack of parking. We did find parking further up the hill for free and were then allowed to park outside the neighbouring property as no-one was staying there.

Overall we had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay again.

“Perfect”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We love Roberts Retreat. Seconds from the market square but nicely tucked away on the hill away from the bustling square too. A really creative use of space and smart decor. A cute and private seating area out the back and a really well equipped, comfortable property. Would highly recommend. Would also recommend the Coach and Horses for a meal and The Bridge has a lovely outdoor space. Ashbourne is a really friendly, 'holiday feel' town with lots of unique shops to browse and plenty if coffee bars packed with walkers, cyclists and holiday makers. A gem for us. We've already booked to go again and the property next door for family, which is even better! Brilliant. :-)

“Beautiful little cottage in a perfect location!”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Absolutely loved this cottage...actually it's more of a townhouse than a cottage. Split over 3 floors with 1 room on each, it suited us perfectly! The location couldn't be better, Ashbourne is a fab place, lots of independent shops, pubs & restaurants all within a short walk. We recommend the 'Bowling Green' at the top of the hill for a nice meal (the hill is steep, but it's worth it).

One negative for me is the parking, you can park outside to unload if your quick but will then have to move your car. We parked at the top of the hill on a side street, not ideal but we made it work & it wouldn't put me off booking again.

“Small cottage, nicely done, perfect for two”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

This is a lovely cottage in the heart of Ashbourne. It is a three floored terraced town house - each floor has one main room. It has been recently renovated and has a great kitchen and good bathroom with modern shower. Parking is at the top of the hill which is probably a 2 minute walk, but you can park the car right in front of the cottage to unload. The rooms are small, and the double bed is quite narrow, but that is part of it's charm. It is really very reasonably priced for a very nicely done up cottage. We also had a great meal at the lamplight restaurant - about 3 mins walk away!
