Visited Whites this evening following a recommendation and reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Excellent food at extremely good prices. Very friendly owners and welcoming staff with a relaxed but buzzing atmosphere.

A table of eight can often be a test for a restaurant, but like every other time I have been to Whites (this was our 5th visit) we had a lovely evening. The menu has a really interesting range of dishes and offers plenty of choice, its pretty clear too that provenance is important to the Chef and owners - a good sign these days!
Everyone at our table enjoyed their food tremendously, from the seared tuna ,the incredible burger topped with caramelised onions to the steak frites...cooked as it should be and using the classic cut of beef for this dish and finally the trio of desserts was a big hit...and good for sharing!
The owners are incredibly hands on and ever present with a smile and a watchful eye on everything that's going on..add this to the team there and the formula is spot on.We were looked after by Mel,who is delightful and a credit to Whites.
All in all,a great place , good value for money ,good attention to detail and good people !
bring on visit #6!

A lovely evening at White's, decided to go last minute on a Thursday evening and there were 8 of us. Food was delicious, service faultless and just a really great atmosphere. Most of the table had 3 courses and with wine the bill was just around £25 per head so excellent value for the standard of food etc. Absolutely recommend and will hopefully return soon :))

Came here on Friday 8th august, glad we booked as the restaurant was packed. Staff were nice and friendly. The restaurant was fresh and nicely finished.
The food was very tasty. Had the sharing platter to start, which had the baked Camembert, perfectly cooked and was extremely tasty.
I had the tuna and Asian noodles, the tuna was great with lots of flavour and the noodles were amazing. My girlfriend had the tagine which I had a taste off and I could have eaten that myself too. Having been to Morocco and eaten a lot of tagines whites version was just as good. Due to my girlfriend not being able to eat wheat she asked if she could have rice instead of cous cous and the staff were more than obliging.
The desserts were delicious, I had the New York salted caramel cheesecake and my girlfriend had the special which was a chocolate mousse and there was not a single crumb left on either of our plates. Delicious meal and next time we come back to ashbourne on holiday we would definitely dine here again.

Visited for the first time whilst staying Ashbourne. On entering the premises your are welcomed by the friendly staff and owners. The decor is tastefully adorned in sage green with nice textures comfortable soft furnishing and elegant table ware. To start we ordered the shared platter which came with a full sized baked Camembert, baked to perfection and delicious.

Now to refer to the last review regarding the overcooked steak this is nonsense, the steak served here is skirt which comes from the belly of the beast and should be cooked medium to ensure it is not tuff or dry. This is how it is cooked here and is perfect!!!

Also the French Cassoulet is tasty, rustic and a clear winner.

Following the meal we were
Welcomed to sit in the soft furnished area adjacent to the bar to enjoy our drinks and was not hurried for the bill.

The owners were attentive and good company and the good speaks for it's self.

Overall a superb dinning experience and I wish the owners the best of British with their new venture.
