This cottage is in a picturesque setting and is ideally located for those who want to explore the incredible surroundings of the Peak District. We were a party of 5 adults, a 5 month old baby and 2 house rabbits staying here for a week.
The Cottage Itself: The cottage itself is perfect for families as it's spacious and can sleep quite a few people! It's clean and everything you need is there e.g. towels, bedding, kitchen utensils and basic household cleaning. The rooms are lovely and ideal and there are 3 main bedrooms: 2 with double beds and en-suite bathrooms, 1 twin and a snug which has a sofa bed in. There's 3 toilets so no need to queue and a bath/shower and shower. The cottage is clean and well managed and kept. There's 2 TVs and WiFi. They provided a cot and high chair for my nephew which was brilliant.
The only faults we did have was it hadn't been cleaned thoroughly after previous tenants but we spoke to the lady and she was shocked by this matter and is dealing with it with the owner. Just a warning, bins are collected but only what is in the bin. You can't put a black bin by the bin and expect the binman to take it as they won't. Very annoying but just one of those things.
The Village: The village itself is lovely and has a great Bakery open Mon-Fri selling brilliant oven rolls (perfect for picnic lunches) and great pasties. It has a dentist should you need it, local shop and the brilliant village run pub called the Anglers Rest. It's lovely to walk around and offers a lot.
Local Attractions: Attractions to suit all but recommend Bakewell (for obvious reasons the tart vs the pudding and a beautiful place to walk around) Casteleton (it's history and caverns) and Buxton to name a few. There's many incredible walks which can suit amateur walkers to mountaineers. I highly recommend the Man Tor and Burbage. National Trust Members eat your heart out as there's loads of places!
Local Eats: Please see my reviews on the restaurants Maazi, Ye Old Nags Head, The Scotsman Pack and Lavender Tearoom (All amazing!).
Overall Glen House was the perfect cottage that met all our needs and would suit many needs/ requirements. Thank you so much for a lovely week.
