“A lovely, friendly find”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

We drove up to this pub, not knowing anything about the dam so we had a pleasant evening stroll wandering to it (five mins).
The staff were very friendly and obviously had regulars who had their own seat - which apparently I'd taken!! Our room (No 5) was lovely, clean and well presented. The home-made cookies - a nice finish! The food was lovely with lots of vegetarian choices. On arrival we asked if we needed to book a table for the evening and were told one was already made up for us - how wonderful and thoughtful!
Breakfast was lovely - again with lots of choices so we rolled out of the pub and had a short walk in the woods behind the pub - lovely. I would stay here again. It wasn't far from Castleton.

Ideally situated for visiting the local attractions this pub/hotel is just about all you need. The rooms are sizeable and clean although in need of some updating . The plumbing when in heavy demand before breakfast is noisy, the water supply needs balancing. The bar is a good place to relax in the warm and enjoy some well kept real ales. The breakfast will set you up for the day with plenty to choose from and the evening meals of typical pub standard. There is plenty of parking off road. The road outside is busy so it is best to select a room at the back of the pub.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are the quietest.

Spent 2 nights here & found it too be a great place to stay being on the doorstep of some really good walking trails in the area. The room 11 was more than functional, if on the small side & whilst there is Wi-Fi in the bar area, there is non in the room. But a minor inconvenience. Made up for by friendly staff, good food & a super atmosphere in the bars. The dining area being in a conservatory off the bar is a little plain, but there was a great looking dining room with atmosphere, which was unfortunately closed during my visit. A great place to stay with good parking if in the Ladybower / Peak District area.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a bigger room.

An enjoyable weekend stay! The hotel's location is ideal for anyone wanting to walk / cycle /run around the Ladybower & Derwent reservoirs. The room although small, was immaculate & the staff throughout the hotel were very friendly & efficient. The parking was close to the room & there was a secure room for bikes if required: All in all, well worth a visit!

If you enjoy walking and wildlife the YBI is the place for you, it couldn't be better placed for you. The countryside is spectacular and you are perfectly placed to enjoy all the surrounding visitor attractions and villages.
The rooms were clean, well maintained and very comfortable and parking is easy.
Nice thoughtfull touches include Fresh Milk + local homemade biscuits.
If you want "Fine Dinning" then this is not for you, however if you enjoy good pub food then the YBI will no doubt hit the mark.
Staff are helpful, attentive and will give you guidance to help you enjoy the local area.
Get your walking boots packed, put the bike in and make the effort, you will not be dissapointed.

We have just got back from a one night stay and were very impressed with all the little details that they seemed to have thought of. Beds were comfy and room was v clean, fresh milk given to you on arrival to have in your room with the homemade jar of biscuits. Welcome book and guide about the local area, quilts not blankets so slept like a log. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and plentiful and nothing was too much trouble, we could not eat anything else afterwards even though there was yoghurt, cereal, fruit and pastries on offer, well done to the Yorkshire Bridge Inn and your team, you ticked all the boxes!!!!
